Terrain inspiration - Deus Ex Mankind divided edition
Good time of the day everyone
I love terrain, Im always on the look out for inspiration for my next piece of terrain (and the time to make it but thats a different story

)
Video games are a great place to get terrain ideas.
Triple A game titles have millions spent designing them and a lot of that is world building, so games designers build terrain too they just use a
PC instead of cardboard, Foamboard and PVA

(same as digital sculpts vs traditional i guess ).
While i often see some great terrain ideas in games i then cant find them again or cant be bothered booting up the game just to find the paint scheme they used on that random crate. This thread might solve that.
I’ve recently started playing Deus Ex: mankind divided and its rife with terrain ideas, in this thread ill post images of things i think are good inspiration for terrain as i come across them in the game. From whole buildings to street scatter or just textures and colours.
For those of you reading who don't know,
Deux Ex is a 1st person shooter/stelther set in the year is 2029, two years after the events of Human Revolution and the "Aug Incident"—an event in which mechanically augmented humans became uncontrollable and lethally violent. Unbeknownst to the public, the affected augmented received implanted technology designed to control them by the shadowy Illuminati, which is abused by a rogue member of the group to discredit augmentations completely. The Illuminati successfully conceal the truth behind rumors and disinformation, while the augmented are now outcasts from normal humans in an era of "mechanical apartheid”. (from wikipedia)
Most of the things in the game will be directly applicable to Infinity but some things could fit other SciFi settings too.
Heres some pics to get a feel of future Prague
Some of the stuff I've seen so far
A Block Tree
This is from a public garden outside a bank, its the Tree thats really striking to me (if you play minecraft a block tree probably isn't that striking but i don't so it is)
While it looks Great in a garden or as modern art like this it could all work as an alien tree.
Memorial Signs
These signs are dotted around Prague, so i was going to take a picture of one for this but i couldn't resist taking a picture of an
NPC taking a Picture of the thing i was taking a picture of.
Tiny bits of detail like this add a lot of character and history.
What about something like this on the side of a
40K ruin?
A Funky Landing Pad
Its the flood lights and maintenance pad that set this apart from the normal landing pads we see on the tabletop.
Ill definitely be adding flood lights to the landing pad scenery I'm going to make.
Water Fountain
Lastly, a water fountain with added racism.
While its a really simple design it works really well and would make a good bit of scatter scenery to add more of a lived in feel to your table. (and add some over to an open space)
Also with just 2 arrows and 2 words you get loads of character.
40k could be human and mutant/xeno, Infinity could be well just as is or maybe a reference to the combined.
Only the tip of the iceberg ill have more up soon
If you like the concept or want to discuss any of the ideas please drop a reply, it will motivate me to post more
