Hey hey Lord Khale here, Had an idea for a list with a "Fast Attack with Drop Pods" theme.

Drop Pod 1:
Wolf Lord Krom Dragongaze
Grey Hunters x 7
Close combat weapons x 6
Melta
Pack Leader w/ Power Axe, Combi-Melta and Melta Bombs

Drop Pod 2
Rune Priest w/ Level 2
Grey Hunters x 5
Close Combat Weapons x 4

Pack Leader w/ Power Sword and Combi-Melta

Deploy the Whirlwinds on opposite sides of my table behind cover.
Then on turn 1 Deep Strike the Land Speeders in the enemys deployment area attacking from behind and Drop the 2 drop pods with the rune priests in the center of the table. essentially creating a pincer move.

then fire the whirlwinds accordingly. Force the enemy to choose fighting the land speeders or the marines.

I know that there are better options than using whirlwinds But I don't see a lot of people using them so I figure hey why not try them.
But any thoughts or comments would be highly appreciated.

Looks like a list I've run in the past. Pod Grey Hunters with Rune Priests, and Meltas (tho I prefer plasma).

It works brilliantly, but is terrible on Kill Points.
All but that match up I've wonderful success with.

speeders are great, but I wonder why so many?

Whirlwind are great against certain things, really great. Seem games to where they didn't do a thing, too...

how is this going for you

Personally, don't go with any weapons besides weapons that are good at snap firing with the speeders.

I like melta and bolter, as anything else is too pricey. The melta makes it scary and actually a target for the enemy, and the heavy bolter is always nice for some extra dakka as the shots really add up.

Otherwise a very good list. I want to do something similar, with lots of outflanking and deepstriking lonewolves but I don't have the funds to get all the drop pods yet :(
