For the ability to field a variety of armies that are at least somewhat able to achieve their goals, I.E. shooting, objective holding, assault, jump assault, terminators, armored, who has the better diversity and flexibility to do this?

Both are meh until you get to assault where Space Wolves take it in Lopes and Bounds.

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go.

I guess a good follow up question would be what makes an army good at shooting? I see that in certain conditions the Dark Angels get BS2 to full overwatch, but is that all that makes an army good at it? BS, weapon options are pretty much the same, is the bonus of overwatch that good or am I over looking more? I'm relatively new, so this is very very possible.

I think space wolves have relatively good shooting as long fangs are quite strong and there are whirlwinds, preds, dreads, dropping melta grey hunter squads, etc, and although none of these are considered the best by majority of people, they are still nothing to scoff at.

Most people will disagree with me however, and that's okay but it all comes down to opinion.

its nothing compared to tau, eldar, etc etc, but it's still not terrible.

Blood angels are about the same in shooting when compared to the space wolves, but I'm pretty sure that blood angels have grav, which is quite strong.

Only grav guns, which are not particularly strong.

For the record, I scoff at both SW and BA shooting.

BA fail in every phase of the game, so by defintion, they have zero versatility.
