Okay Dakkaites, this is an odd one. What size base should an exalted flamer of tzeentch go on? Here's the background for my question.

The EF is only available as part of the burning chariot kit, where it is mounted on a chariot if included. However, later rules include the option for it to be on foot, even though no foot model is ever officially made. The model could very easily be slapped onto a base, but none is provided. The only base included in the kit is a small round base, which is stated to be used for the Herald of Tzeentch on foot. In the dataslate for the EF in the latest Daemons rules (Curse of the Wulfen) his base is deliberately obscured by terrain. There are no GW pictures that I can find of an EF on foot with a base visible. If we go by the strict "include the base the model comes with", then the EF could be put on a small 25mm base, but it admittedly looks a little large for this. A 40mm base would be appropriate IMO. However, I intend to convert my EFlamers out of normal flamers, and want to make sure they are on an appropriately sized base. The normal flamer looks fine on a 25mm base, so would there be any issue using that as it is the base included with the model?

This isnt really a rules question, more I just want to see what other members have done with their EF models.

If the rest of your Flamers are on 40mm, I would either go with 50mm (like Centurions) or 40mm but go extra far in making it clear it's the Exalted.

Even the 'rule' about using the base it came with isn't iron-clad - it includes mention about using other bases. And even the strictest reading of it could mean using the big oval one from the chariot itself!

The Exalted Flamer featured in GW photos a few times (Silver Tower booklet and also 40k pictures) has one of the new oval Bike bases. I like it.

I used a 45mm washer and it has never been a problem.

I think there are some fun options for his base. I think 40mm is the one you will have the least amount of objection to. The small oval base looks good too

Although you could make an argument that 32mm would be acceptable too.
Flamers are on 25mm, Exalted is only 1 wound more, so the next base up should be fine. Also, the EF is a rare case in which the "base it comes with" doesn't actually work for it. It comes with either the 25mm for the Herald, or the larger oval for the Chariot.

The chariot kit does, however come with 2 small circles that fit into the disc. 1 is for mounting the Herald, the other for the Flamer. These circles are about 32mm, and could be mounted to a flight stand (especially since the EF is now Jump infantry). The small flight stand bases are only 32mm.

Overall, the 32mm is the minimum size base you should use, 40mm gives it more room, and the small Oval accommodates the "flames" best
