An Astra Militarum veteran squad can form a weapons team with 2 members. I often see these modeled on a single 60mm (?) base along with the weapon.

In Kill team, each of the veterans is an independent unit. I have some questions about how this works.

  • Should I model the weapons team with the Guardsmen on their own bases?

  • Can one Guardsman operate the weapon?

  • If both of the original crew are destroyed do I lose the weapon or can other Guardsmen take it up?

  • Where is the Bulky rule? I see that Weapons Teams in the AM Codex have the Bulky special rule but I can't find it in the 40k rules in the Special Rules section...?

  • Thanks for your time and patience.

The weapon team is a model on its own now. Just like a commisar with a plasma pistol or a sag is a model on its own. It has a huge base and ususally 2 moddels modded on it, but this does not make it 2 models.

Bulky is in the core rulebook its about the room it takes into transports.

So no you can't split it up and no gun can ever be picked up in 40k ever.

For the purposes of the rules, the Heavy Weapon team is a single model with 2 wounds and the Bulky Rule. As long as it has one wound remaining it will still be able to fight at full capacity. It is also susceptable to Instant Death; if it gets hit by a single shot of strength 6 or greater (I think?) then the entire model is removed. No other model may ever "pick up" a Heavy Weapon Team's weapon.

It's done this way because the old method of having them as actual separate models ended up creating more rule conflicts than it was worth, so it was deemed an acceptable break from reality.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.
