Hey all,

I'm considering giving KT a go, but was wondering how you folks think it would work on a 2x2 that was very terrain dense, labyrinthine if you will. I was thinking maybe getting a set of four Zone Mortalis tiles or a Battle Systems 2x2 set up, so that I could use them for complex raids, ship boarding actions, and all the tight quartered 40k fighting that I find very interesting.

For those that have played the KT rules more than I have (which has been maybe four times since the 6th edition ones came out), how do you think this would work out? If you think it would be possible, would you recommend ZM tiles or a Battle Systems set-up (they seem to each have their own perks - the ZM tiles being more durable, more 40k, and the Battle Systems being cheaper, more modular, and have the potential to have more than a single level)?

Thanks for the feedback!

could easily work with very dense terrain on a 2x2 might be cramped, but with dense terrain the longer range of some weapons won't really come into effect

Denser the better, if your not using vehicles. Since every model is it's own maximum cover adds to the tensions.

I'd rather do 4x4 because it could get real crowded in a 2x2, and if one guy's playing a close combat army it could be really stacked for them.

4x4 you could lay out a nice square type arrangement full of lower cover overlooked by a ring of taller ones.

You can fight down a potential side street, you could have duels in the centre or fire fights from upper floors. And would present lots of cover and help both sides survive the nastier weapons.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

If you're looking at.Zone Mortalis tiles forgeworld recommend 3x3 for 500pt games.

I wouldn't go below 4x4. Even with a lot of terrain you'll find yourself engaged pretty quickly. A 2x2 table would mean you'd have no room to maneuver, flamers would be absolutely insane.

I've enjoyed 3x3 600 points crammed with terrain.

Obviously the smaller the board and the more terrain the more different the game feels (not a criticism, just observation).

Thanks for the feedback buys, maybe i'll give it a try on a 3'x3' when I save enough to buy 9 FW tiles (or some how justify the expense to myself) or find a way to make a decent looking board that doesn't require 50 hours of cutting foam board.

Games that small (2x2 / 3x3) and packed with terrain can be stupid fun. City Fights are, imo, the best kind of fights in 40k.

With that said it's not going to be fair for all armies and you'll need to take that into account. Whilst Orks, Tyranids, and most armies can enjoy that sort of game.. Imperial Guard or Tau are probably going to not bother showing up.

I go for 3x3 with a reduced 6" deployment. This gives both armies the same "starting" distance from each other but also reduces the total amount of space.

Conveniently, Walmart sells a lightweight foldable table in this exact dimension. Which is awesome as once I get my car I can convert the trunk into a portable Kill Team game station.

Hell, I'm not that bothered by the Stormraven. Why? Because, as it stands right now, it's "limited use".When it's shoehorned in to the Codex: Space Marines, then yeah. I'll be irked.

When I'm editing alot, you know I have a gakload of homework to (not) do.
