I have an IC leading a unit of Wulfen and getting overwatched by a high ROF ap2 weapon, three wounds score, they won't cause insta-death but all three of my Wulfen have full wounds and Storm Shields and I'd rather have three single wound Wulfen to charge into combat than two even if one is at full health.
During the movement phase before declariing the charge I made sure all three Wulfen were the exact same base to base distance from the IC, since the BRB seems to imply each wound can have a LOS! case in its own right is there any reason I can't attempt to spread the wounds among the three Wulfen rather than just tanking them on one and hoping for the best?

I don't break the rules but I'll bend them as far as they'll go. |

The fact the FAQ for LOS! specifcally says you have to keep putting wounds on the same model once you start?

Bummer. Is the FAQ on the facebook page as a rule yet?

The faq isnt the real rule the brb is. Look up allocating wounds. Once you start allocating to a particular model you keep allocating to the same model until it is removed or the wound pool is depleted.
|
These are my opinions. This is how I feel. Others may feel differently. This needs to be stated for some reason.

I believe only close combat explicitly states that:
...once a model has a Wound allocated to it during an Initiative step, you must continue to allocate Wounds to it until it is either removed as a casualty or the Wound pool is empty."
The Shooting phase rules only speak of continuing to allocate to the closest model to the firing unit, which Look Out, Sir overrides.
But yes, I agree regardless of the FAQ's existence that is how it should be played.

When does that end in the shooting phase? Is it per unit or per phase?

Once you've identified the closest model, it stays the clsest model for that pool, I thought?

Yeah 'that pool'.
Does each unit create a new pool or is there one pool per phase?

Different pools are made by weapons with different profiles and also at different initiative steps I think.

Practically speaking yes, but not I believe in terms of being explicitly stated, in contrast to close combat.
That's to say that each time you go to allocate a Wound from shooting you check which is the closest enemy model, which practically speaking will I think always be the same, whereas in close combat you're told that once a model has a Wound allocated to it you must keep allocating to that model.
