I've pondered this unit for a while, do you take them? What do you give them, how do you use them? Share your thoughts, are they worth the points/taking up a valuable slot?

I really want to like them, because as an Alpha Legion player I want more ways to mess with my opponent. But they cost too much compared to other units I could take. Comparable jump pack models (assault marines) are cheaper and if I'm just driving them in a transport to shoot at people I'd rather use my Coils option to take some Grave Wardens.

On the other hand I can't really see a better way to get rad grenades aside from spending my HQ slots on a moritat or forge lord.

I think like breachers they're one of those units that you take for fluff rather than effectiveness.

I prefer to buy from miniature manufacturers that *don't* support the overthrow of democracy.

I take them as 10man units with jump packs and a pair of rad missile launchers, sometimes artificer armour and phosphex bombs on the sergeant if I have the points. On their own they work ok but I find their main use tends to be to keep a moritat alive

My Alpha's have got a unit of 5 + Moritat being transported in an Achilles Alpha. They cause a lot of trouble, especially when they appear in the opponents deployment zone...

This is how mine are geared, except I added Melta bombs. I've only taken them a couple times, the points are so high. @OP, If you are wondering whether you should invest money and time I to making a squad, I'd say look elsewhere unless you really like them for fluffy reasons.

After you put then in your army and forget about the points cost, they can be good shock troops....people aren't generally used to facing rad missiles, rad grenades, or phosphex bombs, so they can alter your opponents strategy and target priority a bit IME.

They're a fluffy choice for me (DG) so I have 5 (soon to be 10) without jump packs, used to march up the field; though I do have a rhino i'd consider running them in, even if its not hardcore fluffy that way. They're just too expensive to plop on the field and wait for one large blast to take them out.

I use the rad launcher (obviously) and power sword/arti armor on the sgt.

They're really killer anti-infantry (or vehicle if you give them MBs); you have a metric feth load of melee attacks even when charged (they have counter attack); they wound on 3s base because of rad grenades and have extra CC attacks given the dual pistols.

Keep them away from terminators.

I'm building a 10 man unit with Jump Packs for my Rout. They seem to fit in well with the Wolves 30k theme as the Emperor's Exexutioners and the new transfer sheet has a ton of Destroyer symbols on it.

Will they be effective? It'll be hard for how many points they cost, but they're cool and fit the Wolves so I'll be making a unit. Maybe more when I get full rules.

Destroyers with wolf claws (or whatever they'll be called) will be fething GNAR.
