Does anyone know, either through sales figures or anecdotal evidence, if Silver tower was a success?

I'd love to know as there was meant to be an expansion coming out but I havn't heard anything about it, so I don't know if it got cancelled because of poor sales figures.

It wa quite an interesting concept for a release IMO.

Well they've released some extra rules for it within the new White Dwarf, but I don't think there'll be an expansion right yet though it's actually surprisingly well liked.

Seems for now they are content with adding extra, smaller rules to the base game rather then a full blown expansion.

Doesn't seem to be a smashing success and there's no shortage on getting a copy...

It seems to have done okay, but I don't get the impression it did as well as it was expected. I think it was an entry into a market that has too many cheaper options currently available. I know the price point deterred me from picking it up - and I'm a fan of this sort of game, owning the old Warhammer Quest, Descent and D&D boardgames.

It never ends well

I don't have any financial data but Boardgamegeeks reviews gave it alot of high praise:

It definitely wasn't cancelled and is still focused on by GW with Facebook faqs and more hero updates.

It's been a pretty successful game with rumors of a Death expansion in December, though with how long it takes to produce a quality game while managing other productions I wouldn't doubt it will be December of next year.

The online store I buy from sold 39 copies of Silver Tower.

Deathwatch Overkill, rumored to be a massive success for GW, sold 72 copies.

Given how much bigger the 40k market is, I think this is a pretty good sales figure for Silver Tower from this one particular shop. If indicative of sales across the board then I'd guess that Silver Tower was probably at least a moderate success for GW.

Sad Panda (may have been Atia, can't remember) has said as much. And they're both on the money every time rumour wise. As good as gospel really.

I wonder if Silver Tower would have sold better if it wasn't exclusively Age of Sigmar heroes. I know I was insanely excited for the re-release of WQ only to be bitterly disappointed that I would have to play a space marine or naked dwarf.

Then you're in for a treat, you can also play a barbarian and a priest!

Not sure overall, I bought the only copy my store sold, thinking about buying another (just for the minis, the game itself never interested me)

On a surly Warboar, leading the Waaagh!

After it came out, it seemed crazy popular at the GW I haunt. My son and his friends alternated playing WQ...and D&D...almost every weekend after it came out this summer. As for me, I picked it up for the minis and then raided Ebay for extras to flush out units...9th Age block of Tzaangors in the Beastman Army is rockin'! I'm a huge fan of the Brimstone Horrors as well, intermixed with my regular Horrors.

From the forums I frequent it seems like a success, if not amongst older gamers, or classic Warhammer Quest fans. I find there has been little cross-over between the two. So as a standalone product - it seems to have done well.

My gaming group who have all played/owned the previous version...no one has purchased it. So it failed wildly at hitting any kind of nostalgia market. In fact it kind of put the nail in the coffin of our twenty year hopes that we'd see a proper dungeon crawl re-release. So that's both good and sad.

My gaming group is only 8-10 folks though, but it is odd that not a single one of us was interested enough to pick it up (mainly put off by the trimmed down contents, the AoS figures and the lack of versatility of the boards - the Tzeentchian art/layout doesn't work well with anything else really).

By contrast we've almost to a person bought into Massive Darkness, but that's just a proven company with a great proven game.

Is that in the sword and sorcery genre?

It's the Zombicide folks doing a co-op dungeon crawl (similar system). Think Black Plague but with a campaign/story/developing characters and set in a dungeon (though they're including options to do cross-overs with characters and monsters).

BGG certainly likes it. Boardgame money is still money!

Also, you can get it on eBay for 1/2 the price. Wait for an eBay flash sale through Slickdeals and scoop it up for $10 cheaper!

Well, you have about 30 odd other heroes from all the other armies that you can use lol. Flog the characters you don't want, use the characters you like.

Also curious considering that you could've played the other like.. five heroes, two of which are elves, the war priest, or the Chaos Barbarian.

While I had little interest in the game, I definitely was put off by the sculpts in the game box. Normally as a dungeon crawl boxed game, I'd consider getting a set. However, the AoS aesthetic (on all the heroes, etc.) really really pushed me away from buying a copy just for minis, etc.

I like the cultist fellas and the big baddy looks okay - but the rest are really terrible looking (personal opinion, of course). This is obviously intentional as GW is striving to differentiate all of its races as new brands (I think they're trying desperately to distance all of their products from normal fantasy genre).

I purchase a lot of board games for possible mini-crossover use (Dungeon Saga, Zombicide Black Plague, Conan, Blood Rage etc.) but the minis in WHQ:ST really turned me off.

The price list for this week's pre-orders include a new Silver Tower heroes box and hero cards.

I also remember a mentioned expansion featuring undead coming in Q4. I hope this is still in progress and wasn't cancelled.

Adrift within the vortex of my imagination.

As it will have been in the production process for a while cancellation is highly unlikely. If it doesn't meet standards it will only get a limited production run, but you can bet any sprues for the game are already made, and therefore GW will use them.

n'oublie jamais - It appears I now have to highlight this again.
