Hey Y'all I was looking at the new FW models in the Titan Gaurd and I saw the new Peltasts and Hoplites. I love the models and will definitely be purchasing the upgrade frame. I was wondering which ones you guys would get? I really do like both of their rules and they would fit really well into my AdMech/Acheron army. The peltasts have some wicked ammo that they can take for instance parabolic shot would decimate enemy infantry that tries to shoot/hide from my cerastus while he closes the range, However the Hoplites are much more taky and have much less range. Which would you guys get? I'll put the links to the rules for both below. I have to admit I am a little bias towards the hoplites but jsut because of how sexy their model is.

Thanks y'all,

That will depend on how the rest of the list is composed. If you already have a bunch of Haywire guns, go for Peltasts.

Peltasts at this point, far more usable. If the next IA gives the Ad Mech some much needed transports then I could see Hoplites being useful.

ok cool, I was also thinking that the peltatasts would be far better it was only the awesomeness of the hoplite's model. Thanks guys.

The Scout move DOES help, and when you saturate with multiple theats (so mostly Dragoons with me) they can easily get up close. Proxying both has lead me to believe what I might take to tournaments outside Necrons!

Honestly between the two I'm going to have to get both. They're both stupidly useful in the right situations and pretty damn cheap.

I've already proxied a few games with both units and honestly if Skitarii don't get Transports I'm going to rarely run Hoplites. Main reason is, most people in the group have already found out what happens to a tank squad if they get within 12in. Sure they have a 5+ invul but lets be honest that doesn't keep them alive anywhere near long enough to cross a board when you gotta deploy long ways.

Peltasts however have far more variety so they've tended to make their points back more often than not.

I know I was thinking about that... They also are SO dang freaking sexy! I'll definitely buy the peltast first tho.

Well - the fact that they're both specifically listed as "Adeptus Titanicus" rather than skitarii, means that (whilst currently in a skitarii list), you might well see some proper titanicus detachments - lords of war plus attached elites.

The Hoplites are fantastic as defensive melee units - for keeping knights and drop pod dreadnoughts from kneecapping your beautiful titans, and I can easily see them benefitting from the titans in return.

Assuming they copy/paste the rules from the Horus Heresy book, God-Engine makes nearby mechanicus units fearless, and I can see some sort of 'hide under the titan's void shields' command benefit for a skirmish screen. The Eldar Titan detachment has a rule that you can't choose to charge the titan in preference to one of its escorting wraithknights.

I was thinking about getting some of each and running my hoplites surrounding my acheron. Then having the less survivable but much more potent pelatasts right behind the acheron to shoot down those pesky fliers and other menaces to his safety.
