Subject: [1850] - Blood Angles - Orbital Insertion Force (New BA)

New BA formations has me interested in the hobby again. Off the top of my head what do ya'll think of the following list?
Standard CAD
HQ:
Captain Karlaen
Troops:
5 Tac Squad - Upgraded Sergeant, 2 Flamer Pistols, Teleport Homer, Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod
4 x 10 Tac Squad - Comb-Melta, Teleport Homer, Heavy Flamer, Drop Pod
OIF Detachment:
3 x 5 Assault Terminators - Hammers and Shields
Total Points: 1850
So, 60 marine bodies with 15 units being objective secured. Five teleport homers to bring down the termies with pin point accuracy. Karlaen is their for the rerolls on reserve list and will ride with the 5 man tac squad. The tac squads are all combat squaded to split the two melta shots from the heavy flamer. Allows me to pop a transport then blast the crew with a heavy flamer. What are your thoughts? Have not played the game in a good while so have no idea how it would stand up to the current meta.

Few things come in mind. Karlaen can't ride a pod, because on his terminator armour. Is your list missing meltaguns from 10man squads? Combi-melta is single use, so it's kinda waste If only one. I would loose few teleport homers. Leave few and/or put them on pods. Do you have any DC or furiosos to swap for 1-2 tac squads for versatily, fragiosos perform quite well the Turn they arrive (3 templates, two with rending). DC for mobility.

Yeah I agree with Xirax. A Furioso can go a long way with a frag cannon and DC are arguably still the best thing this codex has to offer (besides the glory of the new Orbital Intervention Force).
I'd probably swap Karlaen out for maybe a DC chaplain to go with a squad of DC. Or a Librarian ML2

Actually, Xirax, Terminator Armor does not prevent riding in a Pod, since he is Infantry and can ride with the 5 man Tactical Squad without issue. He just can't ride in a Rhino or Razorback. In this case, Karlaen is very good. His reroll for Reserves will ensure that stuff comes in when it needs to.

Yes, that is true. In my meta no one ever uses termie suits in pod so I've always thought it can't go into drop pod.

The list looks nice, still think about few things:
- First rule of drop pods is all pods or no pods. Skip the rhino and take another drop pod.
- I would exchange Devastators for a Death Company with JumpPacks and a Power Fist or use Devastators with Grav Cannons.

I own only three pods, 1 SR and 1 LRC and a rhino. Deva is for enemy dstrikers and long range vehicle hunting support. But not the most BA way. True that.

"First rule of drop pods is all pods or no pods"
This is completely false. With the new door ruling, it's easy to start getting in your own way. You can use a couple of pods to push a flank and have everything else meched up or jumpers.

Pods are all about alpha strike - every other drop pod is more drop pods on turn one. That is a huge benefit

Meh. Alpha strike, especially without skyhammer is very overrated.

Is there much of an advantage taking teleport homers on the sergeants over locator beacons on the drop pods? Are they more or less squishy, or do you plan to relocate the tacs once they land?
