So recently picked it up.
I play empire currently as only just getting into the game. The points values are the back are grand but what is a watscroll detachment and a warscroll battalion? Where might I find these warscrolls?

The battalions are a way to organize your models into fighting "formations" - groups that receive additional special rules like +1 armour if within 6" of the Hero in the formatino etc. They are published in Battletomes (battletome Stormcast Eternals for example), Campaign books (Quest for Ghal Maraz) i think and come with the start collecting boxes. P.S. You can also find some at the end of the warscroll compendiums - the original warscroll files that came out for AoS.

Get yourself the Age of Sigmar App. you can download all warscrolls etc on there. you will have to pay for the battalion warscrolls (formations) and such but it gives you access to everything they have released be it purchasable or free. I got my generals handbook through there and it has been invaluable.

Splendid. App is all downloaded. To be fair I'm looking getting me some ironjawz so will end up with the battle tome which I assume will have everything I need to play them in anyway?

If you bring your Empire army back into action, the only thing you will need is the GHB and the app.

There are a few new battalions in the Grand Alliance: Order Book, but they are not very good. The best battalion is the "State Troop Detachment" from the Empire compendium which can be accessed for free in the app under 'The Empire' faction.
