I have a substantial Death Guard army (~9,000 points) and am planning on doing Blood Angels with the rest of my BaC set as well as the new plastics that come out. I'm looking for ideas for a Mechanicum force that could be allies to either one. I look to the wisdom of the Dakka forums.

All legions have an option to deploy a consul named Praevian who let you take automats as options for your astartes army. All the forces during the Heresy deployed and make use of this robots.

Why choose only one legion? With the new rules from the HH Book VI you could merge legions in warbands of loyalist or traitors fighting in isolated wolrds.

Maybe your Death Guard and Blood Angels were fighting in the deep space, far from the core, when the war erupted. Now they protect a frontier forge wolrd, recruiting from there and without taking side in the war.

Or maybe your Blood angels found a lost company of loyalist Death guards, survivors from istvaan III.

Or maybe your blood angels fall under the Nurgle influence, and reappeared the mutations from their baalite rad origins.

Something I will suggest right off the bat, because they make excellent home side objective holders, are tech thralls. Max sized unit, heavy chain blades, rite of pure thought and revenant alchemisty. Then add in a Lacyraemarta Tech-priest auxilia to give them SV4+ FNP4+. 20 of them will give hesitation to anything thinking of approaching. And they're really cheap.

Krios Venator for that fast tank that murders tanks in the heavy support slot, or the standard thanatar for a mortar that IDs marines.

I love the thanatar model. Been looking for a reason to get one. Have come up against them a number of times.
