So I have models already glued to their bases and have no idea what I could do for a simple but nice looking base... Can someone throw in some recommendations?

Mig mud or other various texture paints could help. even the GW cracked earth stuff. just add some tufts of grass on it too.

Rock/tuft/flock.
It’s not fancy, but it works.

You can still easily apply any kind of basing you need...I occasionally base things after they're painted.

I recommend you make one central topic about the models you're trying to do instead of one every 12 hours. That way people can actually help you.

Wasn't trying to cause any issues sorry. I'll PM an admin to see if they can close the threads...

I'm not saying that they need closing, I'm saying that to allow people to follow a figure/unit and give consistent advice, one hub about the same project would give you better feedback.
Though I would say - a few of your topics where you asked things about this army, you never went back to after making them. Regular posters will eventually query whether it's worth writing in depth responses if any topic creator doesn't reply.

Gw texture paints for desert and Martian iron earth, break up some sprue etc. And you have a pretty good desert
Also the bases in box, sets on gw site are good value...

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all. |

If you want a rock or some such, glue that down with CNA (super glue) first.
PVA glue some sand down. Remove any sand that sticks to the mini.
Thin an appropriate brown down to a waterlike consistency and apply it to the sand with an eyedropper (a brush will move the sand and potentially knock it off). Repeat unit you have a color and texture you like.
CAREFULLY drybrushing a lighter brown over the top emphasizes the texture, if you like. The more contrast between the drybrush and the base color, the greater the texture is emphasized.
Paint the rock(s) or other such things next.
Add flock, static grass, or tufts to taste.
Even if you intend to cover most (or even all) the base with flock or static grass, putting a 'dirt' layer underneath the grass makes it look more realistic.
