Right, I'm currently painting a model and the whole things feels a bit dark to me, i'm painting red.

I wanted to ask, before i foolishly try my radical ideas, if i were to thin down a white paint and wash the model, taking care not to hit the recesses too hard... would that brighten it up? or just create a mess?

Also, thinking on it, i wonder if it could be that my shading isn't dark enough, so the whole model feels to have a dark tone?

Any thoughts or ideas would be great!
