A while ago I made the mistake of buying a tank that could not be used has chaos, Hapilly I managed to convert it into a rinno, However now I whant to buy a ironclad dreagnout, I know that chaos has hellbrutes but Im making a list in witch I inteand to use both hellbrutes and dreagnouts, the people at my local gaming club said that there are rules to use dreagnouts had chaos and I playd with a standart chaos dreagnout one of them lended me, but I whant to make sure this is possible.

Sorry to be the one to tell you, but Helbrutes are Chaos Dreadnoughts. GW renamed them when they released the 6th ed 'Dex

But do the rules allow me to use dreagnout models as hellbrutes, in this case ironclad?

Yes and no. We still have dreadnaughts in Imperial Armour 13 from forgeworld (minus the crazy chart). There is also the option to make these front armour 13. In the regular chaos space marine codex however, the lore is that our dreadnoughts became helbrutes.

So you have two choices. Use only helbrutes and whatever models you want. It won't make a difference since they all have the same unit entry and they are technically the same lorewise. There isn't much of a difference in models either as far as size is concerned.

Or you get IA:13 and use helbrutes as well as actual dreadnoughts, which are totally different. The forgeworld ones are closer to what the loyalists get, but you can also dedicate them to a god (and one of three bonus rules on top, like the AV 13). This would also allow you to field contemptors and decimators if you ever want to branch out with more/different walkers. It also allows you to bring a sonic dreadnought, which is basically a noise marine in a dreadnought. Oh and Blood Slaughterers, which are like slower maulerfiends that get super angry in melee.

How is it done in tournaments?

Depends on the tournament. If they allow Forgeworld, you can use the Forgeworld Imperial armour 13 rules for Chaos dreadnoughts. If the tournament does not allow Forgeworld, you can only use Helbrutes.

You don't have to be happy when you lose, just don't make winning the condition of your happiness.

Check with people running it.
Best advice, and makeaire all your weapons match or our obviously what they are.
Then it reduces problems from the start.

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

I think most people would be happy to allow you to do this provided the dreadnought had chaos instead of imperial iconography (so swap out eagles for stars, etc). Keep in mind your play group might not be 'most people', though.

GW just renamed 'Chaos Dreadnoughts' to 'Hellbrutes'.

I doubt anyone will have a problem with you using Dreadnought models as Hellbrutes, providing all the weapon options are correct. If it's an Ironclad, you'll probably have to use it as just having two Close Combat Weapons, since Hurricane Bolters aren't an option. Or, you could convert it to have the correct weapons.

If you really want to use rules for Dreadnoughts (not Hellbrutes) then Imperial Armour 13 includes rules for the 'Ferrum Infernus Chaos Dreadnought' which is meant to represent a veteran dreadnought. However, it still can't use the special ironclad weapons.
