I've heard for quite a while that dispossed are... suboptimal. An opponent of mine will bring them on monday and I want both of us to have a nice time (it's never fun when it's onesided) so I'd like to know what would you recommend for army-building for a list that includes:

A) a gore-fist.

and

B) A megaboss on mawkrusha (be it the generic one or gordrakk)

The reaons I'm putting this restrictions is simple: I WANT TO PLAY THEM! I haven't had the chance but of course it highly depends on what he brings.

Of course if it turns out he goes full competitive I've a back-up plan and brought this list :

General: Megaboss on mawkrusha 520pts

Battle line:

1) 1 unit of 5 brutes 180pts

2) 3 units of 10 ardboyz. 540pts

3) 3 units of 3 gore-gruntas 540pts

Batallions: gore-fist and ironfist. 180pts

The Maw Crusha might be overkill depending on how experienced he is. A Gorefist is ok as long as you keep them to minimum sized units. Other than that, avoid bringing support characters and it should amount to a decent game since he'll be able to compete in melee provided he uses his own support well. If he's still having trouble consider dropping the allegiance benefits from your end as a handicap.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

IMO gordrakk is overcosted for what he brings. Now, I'm not saying he's bad or that he isn't worth his points or anything but... he's 700 points. Make no mistake, he WILL (most likely) make them back but I'd get a regular megaboss and a unit of brutes for his cost, and the two together, combined with WAAAAGH! would crump him.

If your opponent brings a couple of cannons he should be fine.

Well, nice matchup.

He did bring one cannon, which proceeded to crush on turn 1 when the gruntas charged (they made a whooping 40'' movement, ladies and gents.). Gruntas made charges in turn 1 and dealt severe casualties: the enemy unforged, cannon and half a unit of irondrakes (which would have been the whole unit but I backpedaled since I felt bad for rolling 5 6s when hitting with the piggies) and quite a few ironbreakers were crushed beneath my meele might. That formation easily made back its cost as the game dragged and they went on to bleed the enemy ranks.

Now, we declared it a tie since it was late, though we easily could have kept on for 20 more minutes, I had a unit of brutes incoming, my objective guarded by my boys and his king was at like 1 wound and most of his units were battered (he had 6 out of 20-ish ironbreakers, he only had one understrength warrior unit out of 2 blocks of 20, and he had only one thunderer, locked in combat.) and I was about to start MY combat phase. Still I'll call it a draw because I did lose more than half my points, Gordrakk is worth those points but it's hard to make it so.

Sounds like you guys have things going pretty well. I suspect the Dispossessed player will do better next time with deployment to account for the Gorefist. The reason I mentioned the Crusha is that for an inexperienced player they can seem overpowering, but it sounds like he managed ok.

Honestly, I'd say next time I'd leave him come at me so I can charge on turn one with my whole army. If he doesn't move... well, gorefist! 1-2 units make a suicidal charge and make it to the organ gun, I get to kill more points than him and thus I score a minor victory.
That said, he had a few handicaps in his favor: he could shieldwall in combat and shoot at my combats as long as there were no models of his blocking LoS.
