Greetings all,

Just finished up at a local tournament where I brought my Khorne demon army (mostly..brought one small unit of plaguebearers to sit on objectives.) and I got completely owned except for the last game where I lost by 20 kill points. But by then I was already facing the bottom of the barrel in terms of the tournament entrants.

I am pretty disheartened with my army, but looking to make improvements my army composition, improve my strategy, And do a little better at the next tournament in one month. Also I would like to do better in the pick up games that I play as well. A couple questions…

I'm looking at flesh hounds as a way to add a little bit of speed, anti-caster, and diversity to my army composition. I usually run a bloodletter heavy list with some characters to support and 1 or 2 skull cannons as fire support and adding wound saturation in combat. The skull cannons have always done poorly for me. I know that they are a good unit, but I can never seem to get them in the right place or maximize their potential damage output.

So is it best to run flesh hounds in units of 10 or do they do OK in units of five? Any general tips or tactics on how to use them beat? Thought they could rush up, disrupt casters, and provide a screen/distraction and buy some time for my letters to come and mop up. How good is karanak? Any other units synergies well with them?

I was thinking about running them in a blood host battalion, does anybody have experience with this battalion? Is the pile in and attack in the hero phase as good as it sounds?? Great synergy with the Fury thirsters command ability (6" pile in).

Maybe I need to take a second look at blood crushers but I wasn't taken with them.

Also maybe someone could speak on the best way to use the skull cannons. They seem way over priced for a single shot a turn, and a nice but kinda gimmicky extra shot IF a wound is caused by an ability with only one attack...

I know this post seems like a stream of consciousness, but help on these topics would be appreciated.

The best thing you can do with Khorne Daemons is run the Blood Host with Skarbrand. Beyond that you're a bit out of luck in a tournament setting because Khorne simply can't compete with top-tier armies.

You had burst my blood host bubble when I came looking for list advice!!! Just kidding you pointed out my list was illegal cause secrator is a mortal and doesn't add to the 7 needed demon units.

Can you provide some insight on if flesh hounds would work well in a bloodletter lovers list? How best to use them? Multiple smaller (5 to a unit) units or bigger blobs? Thought maybe a Bloodstoker would be nice (first turn have em up the board ASAP)

Next mdonth I would like to run the blood host .. with the fury thirster (6" pile in synergy with blood host special rule seems like a no brainier) letters and hounds.

Thanks, NM. Your always helpful.

Flesh Hounds are your typical fast cavalry units; they run up the flanks to get behind the lines and attack support heroes, warmachines, etc. They have a nice extra bonus in that they can attempt to unbind spells when they get there. I'd run the first 1-2 turns so they can get well outside the main troop blocks, that way if your opponent does commit resources to dealing with them its pulling their attention away from your squishy bloodletters.
