Hey all, just looking for some clarification on the Y'Vahra's Vectored Thrust Move ability:

Vectored Thrust Array
At the beginning of any of the controlling player’s Movement phases, a Y’vahra battlesuit may choose to move as though it was a Swooping Monstrous Creature for that phase. As this move represents a long bounding leap rather than true flight, the Y’vahra battlesuit does not gain the Vector Strike special rule while moving in this fashion. This special movement may not be used in two consecutive turns.

Essentially, I'm wondering if the Y'Vahra essentially enters Flying mode for all intents and purposes (being able to be charged and to charge, enemies having to Snap Shoot with non-Skyfire weapons, etc) or does the "Flying Monstrous Creature Mode" end after the movement phase and it is treated like a normal ground unit thereafter? I thought it simply moved like a FMC for the Movement phase only, but after having watched StrikingScorpion88's new batrep with a Y'Vhara being treated as an FMC for a full turn, I'm not sure what's correct.

Looking at the text, it appears to last for ONLY the movement phase.

This was my thought as well, though I'm curious how other Dakkanites are playing their Y'Vahras. Is there an argument to be made for treating this thing as an FMC for the full turn?

I bolded the very important bit. To my eyes? No, no argument.

the phrase tells us how the models moves. iirc it never changes creature types just "moves like a flying monstrous creature..."

If the text says phase then it's only for the Tau movement phase, not for his psychic, shooting or assault phase, and also neither for their opponents.

So according to rules no Vector, no jink (unless it's some interceptor firing in the same phase) and no snapshots again.

It never flies per se, so no skyfire needed, no vector strike, nothing like that. Just bypassing units and terrain.

From what I can see all this lets you do is move 12-24" over any terrain and models after making a 90 degree pivot and only lasts for that phase. So it definitely doesn't grant Vector Strike, Jink or Hard to Hit (or whatever the rule that forces snap fire against Flyers).

"for that phase" is indeed the important part.

It's really poorly worded. Overly worded too.

Rule should have just been - Every other controlling player movement phase, the Y'Vahra can use its Vectored Thrust Array to leap 12 to 24" across the battlefield.

Flechette Dispersal Pods - Whenever the battlesuit enters play from Deep Strike or uses the vectored thruster array to move, when it finishes moving it may choose a single unengaged enemy unit within 6" to suffer a flechette attack using the following profile. This attack takes place at the end
of the Movement phase and does not count as the suit firing a weapon that turn
