Chaos Space Marine dedicated to Slaanesh

I'm coming back to 40k after several years and I'm starting from scratch. My goal is to have a chaos guard army. Though this is mostly a Forgeworld and ebay bits hunt from hell, and well because of this I don't want to waste money, and hours, on a mini that I'm just not going to use.

That being said please help with some general tactics advice. I have 500 points planned out so far and want to go with a mechanized list once I hit 1850.

Is this viable in 7e? I don't see a lot of guard lists or tactics and most of the online stuff is from 6e. The only think I really know is that my troop choices should be vets in chimera's with either melta's or plasma weapons.

guard are in a weird place so you should just have fun with it...

That aside, TRAITOR!!! guard are doing really really well. Make sure you pick up either Imperial Armour 13 or Siege of Vraks for the rules. IA 13 has the more comprehensive and multi god list and options but Vraks has both DKoK and Renegades (khorne/nurgle) with the extra and most awesome Unending Host detachment. This one basically is all troops (and only troops, you can field an 1850 list with upwards of 300 or more men) with each squad being a min of 15. Its easy to load up with 3 special weapons apiece and they all come back on a 2+ when they die. A 2+!!!!! And when they comeback the outflank! Additionally they also give any other unit behind them a 3+ cover save. This list is seriously fun. I actually run it as a counts as DKoK list and give them militia training and melta/melta bombs so the can literally kill or tarpit anything in the game and keep on coming.

Wyverns, Manticores, Basilisks and/or basilisk batteries are your friend, otherwise I would say build your army the way you think would be most fun/cool. Don't focus too much on being competitive as IG just isn't a very competitive army right now.
