Hey dakka, a pretty odd question, I was wondering if there was a rule set of the game (like PPC or Azyr comp etc etc) that fit the game well and catered to larger games.

I don't have much to go from here, so I apologize, however, any guidance would be much appreciated!

Thank you!

Not apocalypse, I was thinking 3500 to 4500 ish, I suspected the GHB didn't work seeing as AoS is sorta a 'skirmish' game now, but if it does that is good news for me!

Thank you!

If you are doing 3000+ points per player I would recommend just going with the GHB. At such high values the details matter far less and the simple numbers of the GHB will be easier to add up. Plus, with that much on the table balance is kind of out the window already because of sheer craziness so that mitigates the main issue of GHB points. Obviously if someone is trying to game the system it could be bad, but that should be pretty easy to spot ahead of time.

I chose an avatar I feel best represents the quality of my post history.

I try to view Warhammer as more of a toolbox with examples than fully complete games.

Cool! We use points as a general amount but add depending on models we have and want to play with. But no hero restrictions or behemoths or battlelines (as they will always be more than 3) and traits/artifacts if we think to. Tons o' fun

Yes definitely, my brother and I play with free summoning (He plays chaos and I play death so it works out, as long as nobody is TFG about anything).

Thanks for your help!

Excellent! I have a couple battle reports on TGA http://www.tga.community/forums/topic/2917-narrative-match-consumed-fyreslayers-rescue-runeson-from-skaven/ is one over 3K pts and another previous to this one. They're really mostly photos. BTW this is a GHB narrative scenario and it really[u] shines at larger armies like you want to play. Add more models/ Often narrative scenerios from GHB or RGW or batteltomes call for a diff of ~1/3 or "if one side has more models" and so on. Just drop the restriction stuff and let yourselves enjoy. For summoning we use a set back inventory and if it's too much we just don't summon more obscene things. Simple. It's all out and you don't have to worry about being TFG. But more so, for me it's a visual narrative (wargaming) and I love big, epic combats so these are the types of games I choose to play whenever possible. More terrain, take pics, let yourselves experience an epic (again) scene like from Lord of the Rings or Warcraft or whatever.

I played a huge game Yesterday actually, my LGS was short of tables so all the AOS players (only 4 counting my brother and I) played on one 6 by 4.

The game was horrible, but needless to say I think that was because there was 8000 points total

But after playing a few games this weekend, GHB works well for 2500+ points games!

For such a high pt game, I would consider using a rank-and-file game. It should work far better than to try to shoehorn a skirmish game into big games.

It will be no different to playing a big game of 40k - actually, given the rules streamlining, it will likely be easier...

If you play on a smooth table, mousepad mat, or anything to easily slide bases movement goes so quick.

The biggest I have ever gone is 2,500 and I had a lot of fun. Those are games with friends though - for my regular gaming night at the GW I am thinking of scaling down to 1000 points. I am getting a bit fed up of carrying around a massive case on the train and trying to play 2000 points of a 4' x 4' table (all the GW has). Once I've got a car and have the time to go to a gaming club rather than a GW I think I'll scale back up to 2000.

I could probably field 3000+ points of fully painted Order so I would love to try that on a weekend one time.

Bye bye Dakkadakka, happy hobbying! I really enjoyed my time on here. Opinions were always my own :-)

Honestly it is great fun, especially with a lot of backstory and the such!

True that.

New Skaven invention confirmed! Warp terrain to move their troops quicker!!

That's a really good idea, though.

Yeah it is. I have one of those chip movers to slide gretchin along. Often we just edge them forward if it doesn't really matter. I can't imagine actually ever playing against someone who really does carefully and slowly move each model...along...indecision...
