Experienced Cover Huggers-Any model with this rule that Goes To Ground may move 3" in their next movement phase, and fires at BS2 rather than firing Snap Shots. (This does allow them to fire blast and template weapons.)

Save Every Man-Any infantry or bike model may take a Slab Shield or Riot Shield for 5 Points Per Model.

Why Not Put This On?-Captains, Chaplains, and Librarians may take Centurion Armour for 30 Points, may replace their Bolt Pistol with any Heavy Weapon, and may replace their Chainsword with a Siege Drill for 30 Points.

Slab Shield
This massive shield interlocks with adjacent ones to provide increased protection. Any model with a Slab Shield that is in base-to-base contact with another Slab Shield wielding model has its armour save improved by 1, to a maximum of 2+. In addition, if the whole unit numbers three or more and has Slab Shields and is in base-to-base, their toughness is increased by 1. A model equipped with a Slab Shield can never claim +1 Attack due to having two weapons.

Emperor's Aegis Shield
An Emperor's Aegis Shield provides a 5+ Invulnerable save. A model equipped with an Emperor's Aegis Shield can never claim +1 Attack due to having two weapons.

Reasonable Marines also have Captain No'Non Cents, a Centurion Armour equipped Captain who dipped into the armoury for some special issue ammunition.

I really like Experienced Cover Huggers. Very appropriate for the Reasonable Marines. Why Not Put This On seems fine. I like the mechanics for the slab shield and riot shield, but I'm not familiar with this being something unique to Reasonable Marines. I could see this being an option for someone like the Black Templars or some other melee-centric force.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

This is not intended to be a melee-centric force. The Reasonable Marines prefer highly mechanized warfare, and prefer vastly to stay at range (where they're [usually] less likely to die).

I wouldn't mind other chapters accessing the Slab Shields and Riot Shields, but the general idea is that Reasonable Marines value life (including their own) more than most other chapters do, and as such do a lot to keep themselves alive.

With that in mind, clumping close together in a world full of blast and flamer templates doesn't make me think that the slab shield rules necessarily fit them. The slab shields make me think of roman centurions marching forward. I don't think the rules themselves are a problem. I rather like them! I'm just not sure it fits Reasonable Marines to the same extent that fenrisian wolves fit space wolves or inferno bolts fit Thousand Sons. It's a good option, but maybe it shouldn't be a Reasonable Marines exclusive option?

Riot shields seem fine, though it seems odd that they offer better protection than combat shields. Especially when they make me think of transluscent pieces of plexiglass (or whatever riot shields are made of).

I imagine Riot Shields are hyper advanced super alloy glass, not just plexiglass. That being said, if you have a better name, I'd love to hear it!

And Slab Shields are able to be used in a variety of circumstances. Enemy doesn't have templates, or only has a few? Cluster together, enjoy +1 Toughness. Enemy has a bunch of templates? Stick together with a single other guy to get +1 Armour save, but don't clump everyone together. Or even have two guys at the front close together, but the rest spread out, so the 2+ front guys can tank it.

As said earlier, though, I wouldn't mind at all making this a more universal option.

ALSO! I think I'm going to modify the shields to be like Storm Shields-you can never gain the +1 Attack from having two weapons when they're equipped. Shows how Reasonable Marines value Defense over Offense.

Edit: Added Captain No'Non Cents.

In My Lab

Reasonable Marines Sensible Army

Restriction-This detachment must include at least one Core and one Auxiliary choice. For each Core, you may include up to two Command choices.

Benefits

Cover Your Friends-Friendly units from this detachment who gain a cover save thanks to intervening models count their save as being one higher than normal (normally a 4+). If the intervening models are equipped with Shields of any kind, this bonus increases to plus two.

Objective Secured-All units from this detachment have the Objective Secured rule. Reasonable Marines know that holding ground is more important than killing the enemy.

One Man, All The Gear-Any unit that can choose Relics from this detachment can choose to take multiple Relics for the normal points cost-after all, they can probably use it best.

Command

Sensible Leaders
1 Of the following: Captain No'Non Cents, Captain, Chaplain, or Librarian
0-1 Command Squad

Reclusiam Command Squad
See page 178 of Codex: Space Marines

Librarius Conclave
See page 183 of Codex: Space Marines

Core

Stormlance Battle Demi-Company
See page 58 of Angels of Death

Pinion Battle Demi-Company
See page 62 of Angels of Death

Battle Demi-Company
See page 174 of Codex: Space Marines

Reasonable Battle Demi-Company
See below

Auxiliary
Any other Codex: Space Marines or Angels of Death formation.

Spoiler:
Reasonable Battle Demi-Company
1-2 Captain (or Captain No'Non Cents), Chaplain, Librarian, or Techmarine
0-1 Command Squads per HQ choice
3-5 Sternguard Squads
0-2 Centurion Devastator Squads or Centurion Assault Squads
0-2 Devastator Squads, Assault Marine Squads, or Vanguard Veteran Squads
0-2 units of Dreadnoughts, Venerable Dreadnoughts, or Ironclad Dreadnoughts

Benefits
Masters of Cover-Units from this formation that Go To Ground may move their full movement in their next turn, and suffer only a -1 penalty to BS.
Tactical Timing-Units from this formation can choose to pass or fail any Reserves roll.
Smart Equipping-Any squad that can choose from the Heavy Weapons table may choose Heavy Flamers, not just Sternguard.

Spoiler:
Relics

Warden's Armor
This Cataphractii Terminator Armour is designed to be used in squads of non-Terminators, since its force fields extend far further than normal. In addition to the normal uses, this armour provides a 4+ Invulnerable Save to everyone who is in the bearer's squad.

Hellstorm Cannon
Merely a massive cannon taken from a Land Raider, this gun can only be used by those in the heaviest of armors.
Can only be taken by models in Centurion Armour.
Hellstorm Template S6 AP3 Assault 1, Roast Them Down!
Roast Them Down!-When performing overwatch, this weapon makes 2d3 automatic hits rather than 1d3.

Quicksilver Centurion Armour
This Centurion Armour is designed to be lightning fast. As such, the wearer increases their initiative by 1 and has the Relentless rule instead of Slow and Purposeful.

Can I Borrow This?
The Reasonable Marines know that other chapters have good gear too. They may, for twice the price, take a single relic from another chapter. However, while wielded, the chapter who's relic was taken has the Hatred (Reasonable Marines) special rule.

Added an MFD for the Reasonable Marines. Still need points costs for Captain No'Non Cents and the Relics.

Reasonable marines don't need chapter tactics.

Just use ravenguard chapter tactics.

Just as an aside, I think "Emperor's Aegis" would be a better name for Riot Shields in a marine's hands.
