Over the past couple of years I have picked up a number of GW board games and while I have played a few I have not gotten past just assembling miniatures from each set. I want to start changing that so I've started this as a motivational project to get the bloody things painted.
In the last few days I've watched a load of painting tutorials on Warhammer TV and I think if I can get within spitting distance of that level I'll be happy so that's the quality goal sorted. I have a few GW paints but mostly I have a load of P3 paints I got from a mate. I'm worried about colour coverage so I may pick up some base paints as I go. I don't have a lot of spare time so I thought that committing to a minimum of two character miniatures a week OR five that can be bulk painted is an achievable target.
Below I've listed out the titles I have with the game's model list in the spoiler. As I get them painted I'll update the spoiler section with where we are. The three numbers next to the game represent the Have/Assembled/Painted count for that game.
Not Owned Yet Lost Patrol
Betrayal at Calth
Storm Cloud Attack: Faith and Heresy
Storm Cloud Attack: Eldritch and Beast
Storm Cloud Attack: Ancient & Greater Good
I would recommend skipping Lost Patrol. The game is unwinnable as the Scouts; its only value is in the minis that come with it.
Also, on the StormCloud Attack, if you have the models, it's a better idea just to download the rules app for a phone/tablet. The game rules were phoned-in copies of the X-Wing rules and it is very clunky to play as a serious game. Can't be used in conjuction with a regular 40K game.
Out of that list of "Not Owned", Betrayal at Calth is the only one I recommend for both the game itself and the miniuatures.
