I'm getting back into 40k after many years. I bought some units that weren't available in the past because, well, they're cool! I have the individual codices for each chapter and the rule book, but some rules are so scattered I don't know where to find them or which books to get. I'm really hoping you guys might answer some quick questions so I can keep moving forward building and painting.

Can Dark Angel and/or Space wolves use any of the following items/units without allying them in:
A) Hunter/Stalker Tanks
B) Centurions
C) Grav Weapons
D) Grav Weapons on bikes/speeders
E) Leviathan Dreadnought
F) Ironclad Dreadnought
G) Contempter Dreadnought

Thanks in advance for any help/answers.

Ankh Morpork

A) Neither.
B) Neither.
C) Dark Angels.
D) Dark Angels.
E) Both.
F) Neither.
G) Neither with the version from the Angels of Death codex supplement, but I believe both may use the version found in Forgeworld's Imperial Armour Volume 2 Second Edition.

It's probably worth gently mentioning that Dakka isn't a replacement for owning or referring to a copy of the rules - although I don't think your questions here quite break that rule

Thank you. That's exactly what I needed to know! I appreciate what you're saying in regards to dakka replacing rulebooks, but I promise that's not my intent. I bought the models for those units and was deciding how to paint them. I actually had to start a different thread because I was incredibly confused as to what supplements I needed on top of the codex books and rules. I think, thanks to you guys, I have everything sorted out now and know where I need to move.

I'd suggest painting them as you'd like, to fit in with the rest of your units. So long as the units aren't using rules to which they're not entitled in the game and it's otherwise clear to your opponent they're allied or otherwise, you should have no problems.

I'm very tempted to do that. I want to keep them fluffy, but fluff-wise they are two of the oldest chapters, so should have access to the oldest relics.

I painted the Contemptor in Deathwing colors and it really worked! I already painted the ironclad green D.A. colors, figuring he could be a regular dread in the worst case.

The Hunter/Stalker and Centurions give me reason to pause though. Whether or not things work fluff-wise, I get that gameplay-wise D.A. And S.W. Cannot have all the Vanilla S.M. Goodies. So do I create a chapter to dump all those future purchases in Fluff-wise maybe a codex-compliant D.A. successor chapter. Or do I just match them to my chapter colors while playing them as allies?

An update or new addition might give those units to both chapters eventually, conversely new stuff would still come out they presumably couldn't use. Luckily I have a ton of Deathwing, Ravenwing, Grey Hunters, and wolves to paint before I commit to a decision.
