So I am trying to revamp my army a little. I am taking out the Honour Guard that Pedro Kantor had and inputting a squad of Grav Centurions. Assault just doesn't cut it, and even with the 60+ attacks that the squad had, they weren't going to be able to take down something like a WK or SS, whereas Grav Centurions are able to put a number of wounds in place. The Combi-Grav Sterngaurd should be able to finish off anything the Grav Centurions do not. I did have a little bit of a dilemma due to the Drop Pod only being able to fit Pedro and the Grav Centurions, leaving no room for my Librarian. I was able to work around that a little by putting the Librarian in Terminator Armor. While he won't be a part of the initial drop, he will be able to drop next to the Drop Pod (with Locator Beacon), and attach to Pedro's squad after that. I took the regular Lascannon Devastators and replaced them with two Rapier Quad Mortars. So here is the end result.

HQ
Pedro Kantor (rides with the Grav Centurions) - 185 pts
Librarian (Terminator Armor, Force Staff, Storm Bolter, Bones of Osrak) - 145 pts

Elites
10-man Sternguard Squad (5 Combi-Gravs, Drop Pod) - 305 pts
10-man Sternguard Squad (5 Combi-Meltas, Drop Pod) - 305 pts

Troops
5-man Scout Squad (5x Boltguns, Melta Bombs, Land Speeder Storm) - 100 pts
5-man Scout Squad (5x Boltguns, Melta Bombs, Land Speeder Storm) - 100 pts

Fast Attack
Drop Pod (Locator Beacon) - 45 pts

Heavy Support
Centurion Devastator Squad (3x Grav Cannon w/ Grav Amp, Omniscope) - 250 pts
Rapier Quad Mortar - 60 pts

So I decided to tweak this a little more. I don't really think the Librarian will get much of anything done since he may not come in early enough to do anything. So I decided to replace him with the next best thing, a Culexus Assassin! So here is the alternate list I came up with.

HQ
Pedro Kantor (rides with the Grav Centurions) - 185 pts

Elites
10-man Sternguard Squad (5 Combi-Gravs, Melta Bombs, Drop Pod) - 310 pts
10-man Sternguard Squad (5 Combi-Meltas, Melta Bombs, Drop Pod) - 310 pts

Troops
5-man Scout Squad (5x Boltguns, Melta Bombs, Land Speeder Storm) - 100 pts
5-man Scout Squad (5x Boltguns, Melta Bombs, Land Speeder Storm) - 100 pts

Fast Attack
Drop Pod - 35 pts

Heavy Support
Centurion Devastator Squad (3x Grav Cannon w/ Grav Amp, Omniscope) - 250 pts
Rapier Quad Mortar - 60 pts
Rapier Quad Mortar - 60 pts

Raptor Wing
Land Speeder Squadron (1x Typhoon Missile Launcher) - 70 pts
Stormtalon Gunship (Skyhammer Missile Launcher) - 115 pts
Stormtalon Gunship (Skyhammer Missile Launcher) - 115 pts

Officio Assassinorum Detachment
Culexus Assassin - 140 pts

1850/1850 pts

The Culexus will Infiltrate as close to any enemy psykers it can find. Otherwise the army's tactics remain relatively unchanged. The change from the LS Tornado to the LS Typhoon adds in some better long-range fire and the ability to hit some bigger targets more reliably. All the melta bombs are because I don't really have any other place to put the 20 pts I spent on them.

If you're doing Land Speeder Storms, I'd run CC Scouts instead of Bolter Scouts.

Bolters can be used for drive-by attacks now that our ability to shoot after the LSS Jinks has been restored. I am not a huge fan of giving up my Bolter Drill either.

Fair enough. I just prefer to either give Scouts Snipers and Camos or LSS and CCWs.

Drive-bys do seem fun, though!

There really isn't any sort of a plus for swapping out the Quad Mortars for anything, is there? Switching them for a squad of Missile Devastators provides no benefit. I suppose I could take them out, and all the Melta Bombs and get another Culexus Assassin, but to what end? More area denial?

A Tri-Las Predator could be an option for dealing with models with good armor saves, no? I would take it in place of the quad Mortars and the melta bombs.

Well the first list makes no sense as the libo doesn't seem to have anywhere to go. Pedro in the pod so no need for the libo really.

I think the second list is a solid crimson fist list. Pretty straight forward. I like it a lot!

The idea was that the Librarian would teleport next to Pedro's pod with the Locator Beacon. But that seems like it could not always work out. Having the Culexus to shut down the Psychic phase seems to be a better option.

I think there are better uses of thos points. What if he doesn't come in? He also doesn't generate charges off the board.

That is my thought, which is why I decided to pull him out. The Culexus infiltrating in is a sure thing, and if I can stick him in some ruins or a building, he can get pretty close to his targets. The only thing on the current iteration of the list that I am trying to determine at this point is the Quad Mortars. I don't exactly have the models for it (I am using Hunter turrets attached to bases as my Quad Mortars), but they definitely are great for their points.
