Funny that we were playing 3k points and neither of us had much on the table. Note I was not aware we were using the screwy new Draft faq when I made my list because usually we do not. This was the first time playing vs Death Watch or really actually seeing what they can do. All I can say is glad I brought my primarch. I was experimenting with large numbers of jump troops so my list is most definitely not the most optimized but them I play 30k and min maxing is for spankers in 40k.
I had
Terror Assault 3k
Kurze
Sevatar rides in the terror squad drop pod(note this wasn't based on draft faq)
Command squad x5, chain blades, jump packs(Goes with Kurze)

Apothecary detachment 2 with AA, power weapons, jump packs, one with AA and power weapon(Sevatars squad).

1 16 man Assault squad, powerfist, meltabombs and Art armor
2 10 man terror squads with volkite, melta bombs on sgt, drop pods
1 8 man terror squad with flamer, sgt with meltabomb chain blade drop pod

10 Night Raptors 2 plasma pistols(they are modeled for some reason), chain bladex2 sgt with AA, chainblade, meltabombs
Deredeo with autocannon array, missile launcher
Mortis contemptor twin kheres

Death Watch 3k
Watch Captain with a bunch of gear and 4 frikkin wounds
Chaplain never got to see what he had
3 squads with a blackshield, 4 blastcannons(soooo broke) and an assortment of other things
2 Corvus Darkstars with those 5 point reroll jinks items.
1 Landraider
3 missile launcher, assault cannon dreadnoughts in drop pods

We played Bloodfued and we both chose dreadnought/walkers as our targets to try out the 30k missions and deployments with the deployment played lengthwise with the arrowhead shaped deployment zones on either end. The board with a massive trenchline board and we ruled that all infantry and walkers were trained to maneuver in this environment so no difficult terrain. Vehicles could still get stuck, all one vehicle that it mattered for.
He deployed the land raider and a squad without an IC at the tip of his point. I deployed all my dreads and jump pack squads in my area and failed to seize but it was night fight obviously. As usual 40k marines ignore Fear, even the Night Haunter doesn't skeer them.

Turn one, two dreads drop mostly at or just beyond 24" from my guys. My Deredeo shoots a drop pod and shakes it as it cant see either dreads hiding behind them due to blocking terrain. One Dread shoots the assault squad and kills a guy. The other shoots at the Night Raptor and fails. My turn has me goof and drop Sevatars squad and a Terror squad behind each of the Dreads while the jump pack units move forward. The Volkite squad nukes their dread in the back. Sevatar's does a pen with a thrown krak grenade shaking the dread.

Turn Two- Chaplain Corvis comes on. Tries to poop bombs on the volkite terror squad but I win the roll off for intercept and manage with both AA dread to inflict a single pen that shakes it thanks to those rerollable jink saves. Since the aircraft was shaken we ruled it couldn't then drop the bombs as they were a blast. The last dread drops right next to my Mortis and the Deredeo shoots it in the back with its missile launcher shaking it. The dread near Sevatar and the land Raider shoots at that Terror squad and kill a guy. That dread charges and kills one guy and takes a glance in return from a melta-bomb. My turn the last Terror squad drops behind the Corvus lacking anything else to do. The Night Raptors jump behind the newly landed dread. Kurze moves to get close enough to charge anyone who gets out of the Corvus forgetting if I kill it, they go down too. I take a long shot and fire both Terror squads at the rear of the Corvus amazingly managing two glances and the Corvus goes down with all aboard. The Night Raptors manage to shoot bolt pistols, plasma pistols, and throw a krak grenade and just barely glance the dread to death from behind. My assault squad charges the dread engaged with Sevatar's squad and the combination of two melta-bombs from each squad leader and a krak from Sevatar takes it down.

Turn three- Corvus with Watch captain comes in, I fail to shake it but only inflict a single glance between both dreads. He bombs a volkite squad killing two. Landraider moves back and disgorges the squad inside within assault range of the new volkite squad. Corvus shoots the Mortis and glances it. A drop pod kills one of Sevie's boys. The squad unloads its 4 blast cannon at str 9 ap2 assault 2 at the terror squad killing six. Various other guns reduce them to three guys who pass panic check. They are assaulted and destroyed but not before killing 2 guys with overwatch fire. Sevatars squad moves over to the wounded enemy drop pod. Kurze moves close to the debarked squad as does the remainder of the volkite terror squad and the assault squad and the Raptors move up to try and get into range. Volkite squad inflicts two wounds on the squad. Everyone else shoots pistols and Kurze throws his knives. I think I killed one more guy with this. and none with the knives. Terror squad charges, then Kurze, then the assault squad. We goofed and forgot overwatch was snap fire so the terror squad gets reduced to one guy, who then rolls snake eyes on charge distance. Kurze challenges and kills the black shield with 5 overrun kills. The rest of the squads kill off the squad in a flurry of str5 and 6 attacks. Sevatar's squad melta-bombs the drop pod to death and starts hiking across the board. Kurze reconsolidates a couple inches towards the Corvus and the Assault squad moves 6 towards the land raider.

Turn 4: Curvus goes into hover in front of the Raptors and moves over to fire on the Contemptor. The Watch Captain's squad opens fire on the Night Raptors killing 5 of them with blast cannons. The Corvus glances the Mortis. A drop pod kills one of the command squad The Watch Captains squad charges the raptors who do nothing in overwatch and the Raptor Sgt and the Blackshield challenge it out and proves that both need to go to practice more often. The rest of the Raptors are killed by the Watch Captain. The Sgt doesn't care and passes his panic check, thankfully holding them in place. Kurze and company along with Sevatars squad move with haste towards the Captain squad. Both Dreads fire on the Corvis and inflict another glance. The lone Terror squad guy chucks a krak grenade at a drop pod doing nothing before charging it. The Assault squad surrounds the Landraider. In my turn Kurze charges along with his squad killing 4, the squad kills one or two. The two challengers once again fail to do anything to each other. My Terror squad guy inflicts a glance on the drop pod. Assault squad sgt immobilizes the Land Raider with a melta-bomb.

Turn 5: He moves his corvus to try and get a shot on the side of the Contemptor but fails to even glance. The drop pod gets revenge on the terror squad guy and shoots him dead. I loose an assault squad guy to a lascannon blast. I fail to even glance the raider in the assault phase. The Blackshield kills the Raptor sgt in the challenge. Kurze kills all but the Watch Captain. A Command squad guy inflicts a wound on the Watch Captain and I lose two guys in return. My shooting finally takes out the Corvus. Kurze inflicts 2 wounds on the captain. The apothecary kills the Watch Captain with a lucky swing of his sword. Sevatar challenged the Blackshield and insta deaths him. I manage a weapon destroyed on the Land Raider.

Turn 6: Is clean up. He shoots his Land Raider and glances a drop pod. I shake the raider with a melta-bomb. On my turn I don't bother moving anything. Deredeo blows up the closest enemy drop pod. My Assault squad finally explodes the land raider but doesn't lose any guys in the explosion.

My apothecaries did nothing. I didnt make a single feel no pain. Those Corvuses were beasts. That rerolling of jinks was crazy for only 5 points. I would have been screwed if that first corvus would have dropped his troops off. Those guns were straight up nasty. Even with the guys he had on the ground, I doubt I could have won without Kurze being the beast he was. A standard Praetor would not have cut it. Sevatar was a waste, I was just too lazy to build a praetor and field him instead. I always forget about his psyker spell anyway. It was a fun game and we both goofed a few odds and ends, but aside from the non-snapfiring overwatch nothing major.

I had wondered how those Corvus gunships would perform on the tabletop. They sound fairly nasty with jink re-rolls. I'll have to pick up one or two for my own DW army. How do you like the all volkite terror squads? Do they do work or not worth the points you think?

To me, the Terror Squads NEED the volkite squads to do damage on the turn they come in to help guarantee they can get their Talent for Murder bonus.

Blood Angels, Angels Sanguine, Angels Vermillion, Lamenters, Imperial Fists, Crimson Fists, Tyranids, Eldar, Sons of Malice, Chaos Daemons, Tau, Space Wolves, Ultramarines, Imperial Knights, Sisters of Battle

Agree. If I didn't have a squad already outfitted for hand to hand I would have all three with volkite. Volkite is awesome. All hail the power of CHOOOM!

In this fight all it would have done was let me kill the dreadnought when I landed and allowed the assault squad to get more guys into the melee with the landraider DW team.

Once they land and do the shock and awe thing with their mass str5 guns, they are basic marines again and spend the rest of the game hoofing it to get anywhere with shorter ranged guns
