So I've put together a 500 point test list for the genestealer cultists. Constructive criticism is welcomed

It'd bases off the combined arms detachment (aka the old force organisation chart)

Hq

Magus 85
L2 payer
The Crouching

The idea for this chappy is to hopefully get the summoning power and bring in whatever I need for that point of time (metamorphic to deal with heavy vehicles, neophytes maybe to deal with infantry etc etc) otherwise he'll be hanging round with the neophyte squad messing stuff up with his wyrd powers

Acolyte Iconward 65

This guy is gonna hang round with the acolytes, they're a small unit and could use the fnp boost to their survivability. Furious charge will also help them

5 purestrain genestealers 70

An anti elite unit (and possibly vehicle) go to guys. Also it's a genestealer cult list. Feels wrong not taking them lol

5 Acolytes 135
Leader - Lashwhip+bones word
2 rickshaws
Icon

My anti vehicle unit. Also useful for taking out targets of opportunity

20 Neophytes 145
Leader - Web pistol
2 webber
Icon
17 shotguns

This is my anti infantry unit. Up close I'm hoping they'll be able to cause enough damage to take out or several damage most units just through sheer weight of fire the units so big (and not split into 2) is for survivability and also I like the idea of 34 shotgun shots and 3 webbers hitting a unit in one go

500 points

The entire army will be deployed using cult ambush rules as the closer I am the more damage I'll be able to cause
Thoughts?

Once more down to the beach, dear friends, once more,
To drown our sorrows with our English beer!
In peace there's nothing so becomes a man
As modest stillness and humility;
But when the blast of alcohol blows in our ears,
Then imitate the action of the tiger:
Stiffen the sinews, summon up the blood.

I would say drop the webbers for something else..

Webbers are retro, but they are situational, good against weaker units but not good against Marines

so if you are playing against Eldar, Tau and Guard they are fine, but otherwise not the best option

At 500 points wouldn't the best thing to bring be just the Patriarchy and 20 Purestrains in that one formation? That probably comes in right at 500 and is really really nasty

I would run the Iconward with the Neophytes and find the points for 2 familiars to go with the Magnus. Quite a few of the Broodmind powers help your combat stats (Rage, run and charge, -1 Ws and I on enemies) so you should remember that those Neophytes are quite a force on the charge.

Many shot gun shells followed up with at least 2 Str 4 attacks each (furious charge) at I 4 when the primaris power is -1 Initiative means your striking before marines. The Magnus puts out 6 Str 4 rending and 3 Str 5 Ap 4 attacks and is invulnerable in challenges as long as 1 neophyte lives. You might as well keep the Iconward where the fnp and furious charge affects the most models.

If you aren't using force org then also consider Abhorents over Acolytes. Abhorents gain a 4+ FnP from Iconward.
