How do you pronounce the blue scribes of Tzeentch's names? Especially Xirat'p

While we have a thread; are there any other names someone would like to know about pronouncing?

If there is a Divine Being, "Commorragh" should rhyme with "Gomorrah."

The first syllable of "Tyranid" should be similar to "Tyrant." But, it is more commonly pronounced like "Tyranny."

As it is Tzeentchian the correct pronounciation is likely

Schneefövudzjöz fada hmud malagna hellOS

Ha ha, exalted!
There are some Demonic names that are meant to be unpronouncable, coming back to, 'knowing something's name gives you power over it'. Consider such instances a form of self defense. After all, if your name is unpronouncable, how can anyone call you over a public announcement system?. . . Or summoning

'THE ENEMY!!!'

I doubt it's even its "true" name.

True names are supposed to grant power over things. Having it be something that lower lifeforms can enunciate kinda destroys the secrecy of it.

Here's another one for you, Commorragh.

I usually say it Cor-Mor-Rah because I prefer it to Com-Mor-Rah

I'd go with option 2, as how I read it, it sounds more Irish/Gaelic/Celtic. Most Eldar craftworlds and such are named that kind of way.

The Dark Eldar talk with Jes Goodwin in 2010. Check 7:09 and 7:14 for how he pronounces it. Given Jes's role in the conception and development of the Eldar, I'd take that as the canonical pronunciation.

Some years ago, one of GW's studio guys had an article in White Dwarf discussing pronunciation of certain things in the lore.

One that always throws me for a loop is Catachan. Pronounced "Cat-uh-can".

Tzeentch, I've pronounced Zeentch. Pretty much just the silent T.

Commorragh...pretty much how it's spelled. I imagine it's a lot different though.

It would be Xirat'p = Zeeratee-p and P'tarix as Pee-taricks. The accent mark makes all the difference.

"Tirra-nid" sounds much better than "Tie-ranid", though.

I have a lame, boring answer to some of the words, e.g. "Tyranid" and "Tzeentch".

Just check out the voiceovers during the cutscenes for Dawn of War et al. Pretty sure those two words are covered during the grimfest talkie talkie joy

Should be on YouTube for sure, esp. the respective campaigns.

Can't remember if they ever say "Commorragh". Can also check YouTube but I don't remember DE as being a faction. Probably wrong. It happens.

Xirat´p is pronunced Chirat or Jirat in spanish. But is like Cthulhu, no human tongue could summon his true name. And for Tzeench, I use to say Cinch or Chechu.
