so upcoming tournament in December and looking to use my beloved necrons. smaller point value than i am used to playing (usually min 1500) but the group wanted to try something different. heres the list:
Necron Decurion;
Rec. Legion consisting of - overlord with phase shifter, 3 tomb blades with scopes and shields, 2 x 10 warriors, 5 immortals with gauss
canpotek harvest - 3 scarabs, 1 spyder, and 3 wraiths with whips
Judicator battalion - 2 x 5 praetorians and stalker with heat ray
still have 90 points on the dot to play with. some options are a) add a praet to each squad and upgrade the o lord or b) add 2 more wraiths with whips or c) add another squad of tomb blades with some upgrades and possibly an upgrade on the o lord.
There is still always more options obviously but those were the top 3 that came to mind. any input would be great. definitely looking to make it a well rounded list by having some obj campers, fast obj snaggers as well as having some threat not just msu everywhere. missions will be 1 kill fest, 1 tactical and 2 with set obj marker (prob 3-4 markers) each worth 3 points if held at end of game. winners are decided purely on number of victory points achieved throughout the tournament. so no wins or losses or what have you. try and get as many points as possible!!! suggestions and comments welcome as well as other 1250 list ideas. there may be other combos i am over looking at this level so dont wanna miss out! THX

Well, I'm not an expert in small-point games. But I'd add definitely more Wraiths to the Canoptek Harvest. Frankly, I'd take two Canoptek Harvest, the Judicator is usually less effective.

Shooting is hit or miss. Wraiths are definitely better in cc than Praets.

Go with 2 min harvests and load up on 3 x 5 Tomb Blades. I would equip most (if not all) of the Tomb Blades with shield vanes, nebuloscopes, and Gauss.

How come you don't use Ghost Arks?

They are not. Wraiths are a tar-pit. They don't die easily, but they don't kill things easily either. Rant and rave all you want about rending, but basing your strategy on rolling 6s is not a good idea. Praetorians pack a hell of a lot more reliable punch in assault.
Because Ghost Arks suck. They used to be decent until GW FAQed jinking transports. Now, they're just a points sink.

Additional tomb blades will be better for board control, and turbo boosting end game to get objectives.
I love TB's, run 12 most games.

I appreciate the feed back. I do have to agree that praets, while not as survivable as wraith are awesome in cc. The fact that its constantly ap2 is just nice to have. Rending is a good ability but not always consistent . as for ghost arks, yes the FAQ did take away power from them and for me when it comes to them 1 isn't enough. You want to spam lots for the resurrection ability so I'd say at least 3 . only having 1-2 arks and no other vehicles makes.them target priority for any anti tank and they will be gone turn 1. It is hard to fit in a decent number of vehcikes in this low of points level. And for the tomb blades, I like them and will consider more (I do only have 6 atm in my collection) but for now they are there for filling the decurion requirements.

Hmm sorry for being a noob and not finding the FAQ in question but may someone tell me what happened to the ghost arks in it? Many thanks.
Also, I almost forgot: your lord need a war scythe. I was sorry when I lost a melee against one scout and an attack bike with a lord in an squad of immortals.
For the rest no matter how much they dwarfed the arks it's 105 points of cheap reanimation. Put 2, let your warrior shield them and run. The shots they will waste on your arks will be more warriors that make it at firing range.

It's from GW's string of FAQs they released for the core ruleset and all of the codices. You can find them on GW's Facebook page or Bell of Lost Souls. Anyway, before the FAQ, if a transport jinked it did not affect the passengers. Now, if a transport jinks the passengers must snap shoot. Admittedly, this makes more sense, but it nerfed flying and skimming transports.
Even before the FAQ though, Ghost Arks were on their way out for me. Being open topped, they explode way too easily and losing a Ghost Ark to a turn one Melta drop has a massive impact on the game. I still use them from time to time, but I've found it's usually better to spend the points elsewhere.

Necrons don't seem to have any good vehicle. Too fragile. So the infantry have no support aside from the destroyer cult or canoptek harvest.
I tried to field something else then a decurion a couple of times but people simply bring skyfire units and boom. Wasted.
It kinda suck to be forced to play one style inside an army.

They really don't. The Night Scythe is good, but very expensive as far as transports go and chained to the almighty reserves roll. Necrons, in general, are pretty poor nowadays. Wraith spam was a thing until other codices got updates and formations to counter it. Now all Necrons really have is hard to kill guys (granted), but with average shooting and over-priced dedicated assault. The codex is pretty stagnant.

I wouldn't say no good vehicles. Albiet on the expensive side and the number of open topped kinda hurts but having an av13 wall of vehicles coming at you is intimidating. You need a min of str 8 to even pen it to get the shields down. Like I mentioned before it would be about having a decent number of them on the board to become a threat. I enjoy the scythe as when it gets blown up or crashes we don't loose our guys like every other flying transport in the game. Least they can still be useful. The snap shots does make the arks a lot less worth it in smaller games .
