I know it's common knowledge that you can't take dozer blades on land raiders, but I can't for the life of me figure out why.
I've looked through both the Space Marine codex and the BA codex (two SM codices I have) and all the vehicles that can take dozer blades have the same statement.

"may take items from the Space Marine Vehicle Equipment list" which itself refers to the vehicle upgrade list in the BRB.

So why can a predator take a dozer blade, but a land raider can't? Just would be nice to put a dozer blade on a Land Raider if you could.

'Cos charging out of the front ramp would not go well with a dozer blade in the way.

Because GW is unimaginative and the upgrade is called a dozer blade, which is something they actually sell. It's not like they can sell you "rough terrain modification" or "improved engines".

Uh is that a space marine thing? I'm looking at the csm codex and I don't see anything that would disallow a dozer blade on a land raider. The only restriction is that it needs to be a tank model, which it is.

Correct, a CSM Land Raider can take one - the 6th edition Dark Angels codex also allowed them to take one, but the newer SM codecies haven't allowed it.

I see, thanks. Didn't know that.
