Human Auxiliary to the Empire

Hey, new WH40K player here. Everyone in my LFGS plays 40K, mostly 850 points, and I decided to join in as well. Any tips for building a Tau army that won't grab my wallet by it's poor, poor neck and beat it into the ground?
