I am gonna be going to Warhammer world soon, and I am starting to prep my list so I know what I need to get painted or bought.

I will most likely be playing against my brother's tau or inquisition (grey knights + DW + sisters). If he goes tau I won't expect anything stupid because that isn't the type of player he is.

I wanna go with fire-howlers because I really love their lore and that's how my wolves are painted so its fluffy too!

... however, lacking Storm Shield could be quite detrimental. If only one could SS+Chainfist, oh man.

It is all about the charging benefits.
Re-roll failed charges.
Furious Charge if your charge roll is ten or more.
Units without Fearless or ATKNF take a leadership check to see if they can overwatch.
It's a difficult great company to use but if you can remember all the triggers when they're useful it is stupidly aggressive.

Additionally, my brother is playing Tau so hopefully the Bloodcurdling charge helps a bit.

Any thoughts on the Wolf Guard? I have no idea how to run them because they are fun and fluffy but they seem weak and expensive.

Sadly you pretty much hit the nail on the head. I use Sky Guard in 2850 matches but they're unequipped & only there so I can take their Landraider and load Wulfen into them on the first turn.
Personally I wish you could get more ICs in the formation so you could spread the re-roll charges & overwatch test a bit further.

Thats a shame.

I'm probably just gonna load them up on combi melta's and deepstrike them as a suicide squad (hopefully they preform better than that movie LOl)
