You know how sometimes you don't notice a detail on a model until you're painting it? Well, I'm painting the Royal Guard Champion from Imperial Assault at the moment and...

What's going on in his crotch area there? It looks uncomfortable. I think his leggings might be a bit too tight.

Anyone else got any notable examples of details that have only become apparent during the painting process?

That's certainly... Well tight...

Sgt. Vanden - OOC Hey, that was your doing. I didn't choose to fly in the "Dongerprise'.

I have no clue how Dakka's moderation work. I expect it involves throwing a lot of d100 and looking at many random tables.

FudgeDumper - It could be that you are just so uncomfortable with the idea of your chapters primarch having his way with a docile tyranid spore cyst, that you must deny they have any feelings at all.

My favourite is when I start to paint a belt and then find it disappearing to nothing as I get half way around the model.
Soft sculpts are getting rarer these days but there are still a few getting out there.
I'd advise anyone considering a new project to buy, paint and assemble at least one box of troop types before committing to an army if that sort of thing bothers you.
