Hey all,

I just finished picking up enough boxes to start running a Raptor Talon with either of the primary formations from the new detachment in Traitor's Hate. I'm looking for some advice on the best way to the units inside (Lord, Raptors/Raptor Champs and maybe Warp Talons) MSU style, so three units of five. Until now, when I've run raptors I just ran five and deepstruck them with two melta guns.

How do I avoid sinking too many points into this one trick? Is it better to have two raptor units and one unit of Warp Talons to mix things up? All Melta? Power Fist/Lightning Claw/Nothing on the champions? Best way to make the Lord a serious threat without turning him into a 200+ point character?

Any advice appreciated. For context, note my local meta is relatively casual. Not much Skyhammer, MSU SM spam or scatbike spam, but some lists are more and some are less competitive.

Warp Talons are garbage even being able to Deep Strike and charge. So avoid them at all costs.
Stick with Melta Guns and a Melta Bomb, and Combi-Melta is optional.

I'd probably take 2 raptors with meltas and 1 warp talons. Oh, and nurgle lord with def nades.

On the other hand, if you're building a list with a daemon star with cursed earth, 2 or 3 warp talons for scatter-less mass blind tests and ap3 on the charge.

See, their main problem is that there's no good way to avoid or even mitigate scatter for csm. So, it's a hit or miss thing. But if you do plan on running a sorc or daemon allies aiming for cursed earth, warp talons would be neat.
