Hey everyone. I decided to put together all the masses of ork models I have and was thinking about base sizing. The average Ork comes with a standard 25mm base but like the Space Marines, they are just a little to big for the base and was thinking about basing them on a 32mm like the marines are now. Was curious what others do and if it would be weird to upscale the base size.

When I'm basing my minis, I decide based on how many of that model there are going to be. For example, my Dark Angels are on 32mm bases because there are less of them than my guardsmen, who have 25mm bases.
So if you understand my logic, I'd go with 25mm for the standard orks, assuming there a lot of them.

Do remember the impact this would have on the game as well. They are swarm model types so you want to use those 25 mms to get them into actual combat, help them pile in and all that. They were designed to be used with a 25mm.

I'd leave plain 'horde' boyz on 25mm, but nobz and bulky boyz (e.g. lootas) on 32mm.

This is what I've done. Initially it was to stop the old metal Nobz tipping over (as they were somewhat prone to doing) but it looks much better imo. I'm also in the process of rebasing my rokkit guys onto 32s, and I'm considering doing the same to the big shootas.
I think the regular boyz just about look ok on a 25, and I think the footprint of 20-odd models all on 32s would be somewhat impractical on the tabletop.
Here's an example of mine; 32 on the Nob, 25s on the rest:

Thanks for the comments, all. I hadn't considered the play aspects of the basing. The basic boyz will be going to 25mm bases, the characters and maybe the nobz and biggers will get moved to larger bases.

I've found the same thing is good, boyz on 25mm, nobz + on 32mm. Plus it gives you a little bit more room on the larger models to make an interesting base

The other advantage to 32s on nobz (and the reason I started doing it) is if you have any of the older metal ones, it makes them much less likely to fall over.
