Hey all,

I have gotten really excited about the upcoming Blood Bowl release, but I was hoping to do my research and learn some history before the new game ships. I Googled around a little for BB and was totally overwhelmed, so I'm looking for a little advice on what the best resources to start with are, and if there is a nice list of companies that offer third party team models so I can see what's out there now.

Thanks!

http://www.talkfantasyfootball.org/ is where I went to when I started the Brutiful Game. Decent community with plenty of seasoned coaches to give advice to help out a noob.

My advice? Start with the Orcs. Their Armour Value of 9 (beat that on 2D6) means they stick around on the pitch so you can actually maybe win the game. They aren't too fast, which means you will learn positioning your players quickly. Positioning is the key in this game, well that and rolling the least amount of dice possible.

Blood Bowl is what kept me in the hobby when I got sick of fantasy and 40k (and BFG and Necromunda died out)

We were once so close to heaven, St. Peter came out and gave us medals; declaring us "The nicest of the damned".

Yep, the teams in the box are pretty good for new coaches. They are pretty forgiving given that they start with some good reroll skills, and they have the options that you can build them out to be either more bashy or more dodgy if you want to.
If you want to... play the Computer Games. They do an ok job teaching the rules and the AI isn't that difficult to beat (at least the old game, the new game has much better AI). Great for learning the game when you don't have mates to play with.

I have my review copy and we're playing a few games before airing that episode. But so far, not too different from before except it's more awesomerer-er

Bakaw!

Any tips for human teams? I know I want to max out Blitzers, but other than that...

Never played Blood Bowl before. If you wanted to expand your teams down the road, would having a second copy of the base game be a good bet?

I wouldn't get a second box unless you want everything inside too.

For the Orks you only need 2 Blitzers and 2 Black Orks, plus depending on your play style you will need less then the 6 lineman if you take a Troll and/or Goblins. You likely not need the 6 line men even without the Troll or Goblins.

And the Humans need 2 Blitzers and a Ogre.

A good way to go about it would be to buy two boxes with a friend. Both teams want 4 of some of the positions (Blitzers, Black Orks, and human Blitzer). Other than that, perhaps you can wait and see if GW will release some sort of expansion pack with sprues for the missing positions. They did do expansions for Dark Vengence... they might do one here.

Any word when the legacy teams will get updated rules? I know the expansion book has 7 more (Skaven, Nurgle, Dwarfs, Elves, D.Elves, H.Elves, W.Elves), but I'm looking for Amazons, Chaos (Beastmen mostly) and Lizards. I recall a rumor that legacy teams would be available as a download when the new box landed, however I have a suspicion that may have been wishlisting ...

Boss,
The legacy teams are available for download from BloodBowl.com. Only teams missing are Slann, Khorn, and Bretonians.

Developers have confirmed that they are going to be releasing expansion packs with the needed positionals "Soon". Of course, I can't find where they actually said it... so treat with salt.
