Hello. I just picked up the kill team pack and decided to play Tau. To my surprise it wasn't already decided what the army would consist of. There are so many options I'M FREAKING OUT. Just wanted to see if anyone knew a simple yet efficient squad I could make out of what comes in the pack just so I can get started putting them together and painting. Really want to play my first game so I can see if it's something I want to continue doing. I do have my codex but it is also a little confusing. I did decide that my team is a strike squad and that we are from the Vior'la sept. Thanks for any help.

Hey,
Welcome to the hobby! So are you looking to just play a kill team? If so, what's in the box will cover you for a while but if you're looking to play a normal match than that is far from enough.

I just played a KT tournament where Tau placed 3rd. His list, which was pretty good, was: 12 Fire Warriors (Strike Team), Devilfish with Smart Missile System. Came in at 198 points. The Devilfish is stupid good in KT. 12/11/10 with two STR 5 guns, one that Ignores Cover and doesn't need LOS.

I was going to play 20 fire warriors with two SMS in an upcoming tournament but maybe a devilfish would be better. So far on our GW kill team night, the 20 fire warriors are 5-0.

Fire warriors are great - Piranhas are good too.

If we fail to anticipate the unforeseen or expect the unexpected in a universe of infinite possibilities, we may find ourselves at the mercy of anyone or anything that cannot be programmed, categorized or easily referenced.
