Subject: Purchasing options for KDK, where to go next?

I am close to wrapping up my main purchases for KDK (ill still be adding kits occasionally) and diving into my 30k army soon. I just wanted your opinion on a couple options I have to flesh out this force.
Here is what I already have
20x Bloodletters
1 Daemon Prince
1 Blood Thirster
20x Flesh hounds
1x Rhino
5x Possessed
1x Maulerfiend
1x Heldrake
5x Warp Talons
5x Raptors
I have put my options into a couple packages that ill be ordering with some amazon gift card money I have. please keep in mind that I have only 70ish dollars to work with.
Package 1
1x War Machine (soul grinder or Maulerfiend which one?)
10x cultists
Package 2
1x Start Collecting Khorne (mostly for the ability to summon blood crushers and have a different HQ on hand)
Package 3( to add cultists and finish out my khornes bloodstorm formation with the heldrake)
1x Raptor Squad
1x Cultist Assault Box
Thoughts? My common playing partner advised the start collecting box so I have stuff to summon.

I wanna say package 3, just because cultists are very good as KDK
but frankly all of those will work so it is really your call as to what is cooler to you.

My rule of cool really wants that soul grinder However I have like nothing to summon most games too.

Yah I understand.
I have played against a few different KDK lists and frankly the summoning was big. It made the codex very good and it was quite annoying to kill a unit only to see a new one pop up.
But the soul grinder is really really cool, I almost want to play daemons to field three of them.

If there was an option 4, I'd say grab a couple of boxes of Chaos bikers to run the Gorepack formation. Easily the best formation in the codex. Otherwise, I'd go with Start Collecting so that you have stuff to summon. The summoning ability can be really clutch; just build the chariot model as a Skull Cannon and you'll have an extra Herald on foot (that would go pretty well with your Possessed).

Soul grinders are quite slow though. And the battlecannon is underwhelming. But they're leagues ahead of leman russes and defilers. They're a somewhat defensive mechanism and a backup against knight lists cause KDK really lack high str to deal with knights and ap2 in general.

If you're gonna take the Soul Grinder, you should do 2 or 3. You don't need Phlegm Bombardment, just stick them right in peoples faces, AV13 with a 5+ inv is pretty resilient.
I would suggest a 2nd Heldrake to fly in an KDK Air Superiority Detachment. This will let you bring in reserves on a 2+ (unless facing enemy flyers) and can allow you to get some really nasty deepstrikes.
I have had situations where I summon in a Squad of Bloodletters which automatically have a Standard, and then reserves come in with perfect deepstrikes in range of the Standard.
You have the basics for a Slaughtercult, and that's probably the direction I would go.

Ya I run the slaughtercult quite a bit with the gorepack. I went with the start collecting for summons. Now I can just buy flyers and war machines as I see fit. Yhanks for the help!
