Hi!

I was looking over the warlord traits for Crimson Fists (found in AoD) and came across the following

Expert Instructor:
"If your Warlord does not make a Shooting attack or Run in the Shooting phase, you can nominate one friendly model within 12" of him. That model can use your Warlord's ballistic Skill that phase."

The Auspex reads: "Forego shooting to make an enemy unit within 12" reduce it's cover save by 1, until the end of the phase. This does not count as choosing a target for his unit to shoot at."

Is it possible to use both in the same phase? My first impression is no its not intended to, but RAW I think it might. I think this question boils down to is if the Auspex counts as a shooting attack. If it does not then RAW you could use your Expert Instructor warlord trait as it only requires you to have not made a shooting attack or ran.

Well, exact rule for Auspex is: "A model with an auspex can use it in place of making a shooting attack. (...)".
IMHO you must trade "shooting attack" for Auspex OR Expert Instructor...
