Haven't played in awhile, was thinking of building an 1850 Space marine army based around the Skyhammer Annihilation Force.

So the plan is to in turn 1 or 2 drop everything I have a take out 2 to 3 hard targets with devs, and use assault squads to bubble wrap my dev, finishes off any vehicles, or burn up any light infantry. The captain will be with the assault squad in drop pod. The Librarian will be with each of the Dev Squads and will be using Prescience to help with the Gravcannons, also equipped them with Meltabombs to finish off any vehicles in the Assault phase. Tac Squads will hang back and shoot pot shots with Lascannon, and take move around to take objectives. Let me know what you guys think, also this is my first time posting if there are an errors in the post please let me know. Thanks.

You may consider using Ironhand CT, your formation fits well in a Medusa Strike Force. Which means in addition to your existing formation benefits, your marines near any IC (which you have a lot) becomes as tough as Necron Immortals and your Razorback fire at full BS even when moving 12 inches.

Don't take the libcon. You'll have a turn of tactical doctrines to make sure your alpha strike goes off, getting 2 max presciences off isn't worth 200 pts. (The empyric channeling is compulsory, EVERY psyker within 12 MUST contribute and since it looks like you're on ML 1 that means 1-2 casts that and being very nervous about scatter. If you don't use the channeling you only have 3(or6) +d6 dice which isn't usually gonna be enough for 3 casts anyway. If you really want more rerolls just pay 5 points for an armorium cherub.

I think you should take the cataphracti captain over the one you have and put him with the devs. He gives them slow and purposeful so you can fire the grave full effect when the demi devs pod arrives.

I am not a fan as lvl 1s all spread out. I would use those points elsewhere. Also you need take matching combi weapons in your units to this careyies by the squad. So melta/combi melta.

Marines shine with special weapons.

If you are truely using Fist of Medusa Strike Force. Librarian is your best way to spread the Detachment benefit (you need more IC to give most of your guys bonus in FnP and your vehicles PotMS). If not, 3 Lvl1 libby is not that good, unless you plan to form some sorts of Deathstar.

I run this as Iron hands.

I use 3 lvl 2 librarians in a LibCon.

I also use a cataphractii captain. I strongly recommend getting rid of melta bombs and flamers on your assault squads. You don't need them. Vehicles melt to your grav and hordes die to the assault guys cc attacks.

Don't take combi grav on the dev sgt. Save the points. Also, strip down the razorbacks and either make them Heavy Bolters, or make them rhinos. If you do that you save 120 points on vehicles alone.

Add in the savings from the assault squads and you now can have a dread in drop pod.

Also change the assault squad to a land speeder for more armor.

I like this, seem very efficient, very MSU.

At a higher points value, or even removing the ven dread you can add 5 more marines to the skyhammer devs. This lets you combat squad them and either do 4 grav and sgt, and 5 bolter marines, or 3 bolter 2 grav to get more shooty goodness.

Assuming you aren't putting IC's in the drops.

I honestly would take 1 of the skyhammer dev units and make it a 10 man with 4 mm. You can combat squad them increasing your anti tank output and/or pinning tests.

You don't need 3 units of grav for that cost.

I would you also consider either flamers or melta bombs on the assault squads. Gives you the opportunity to charge vehicles and try the early game kill

Yea, I'm still on the fence about how exactly I wanted to format my Skyhammer Force. I like the killing power of the Gravcannon and wanted to try and model my list after that. As far as the Assault Squad I think I'm going to give them Meltabombs and Flamers, it's only 10 pts and I get so much more use out of them. Plus I was just going to keep my Tac Squads in the background so I don't think I'm going to run Combi-Meltas on them and that would allow me 35 pts to spend else where.

I really appreciate the input, I played in 5th edition and the advise is really making the re-entering of the game easier.
