How would you go about cleaning a chainsword?

If you allow yourself to be killed and ingested, your soul is forfeited.

Outer Space, Apparently

Remove the blades, take out your special ointment soaked cloth, and bathe it in the Emperor's holiness, murmuring ancient rites to the Machine God along the way. Then be ready to clean it proper in the blood of the Imperium's enemies.

Sound about right?

I would clean it same way as I clean a chainsaw. It's basicly the came thing. But I dare you, I double dare you, don't do it at home. Hand it to the professionals (like me).

Personally, I'd fill a bucket with soapy water (or your cleaning fluid of choice), stick the 'blade' in and then rev it up.

Lots of bubbles and a clean chainsword.

Being 40k, the bubbles are likely blood-soaked...

Hand it to someone else...

In reality, probbly take the cover off. Clear the biggest gunk and bone out before reving the blade through a cleaning soloution correctly formulated by the admech. Of course.

And a clean chainsword is ready to be properly covered in xeno and heratic blood anew

And lastly give the moving parts a sacred oil before putting the cover back on

"Angel Exterminatus" has a scene, where Kroeger, the Warsmith, cleans his chainsword. It takes a lot of time and patience, removing every, single tooth, lubricate it, assemble the whole, damn thing...

Man, power weapons are so much better.

Many thanks comrades, this has been informative. I now have a list of many things not to do, the first of which is own a chainsword.
