Changing Our Legion's Name

Hey guys, i'm planning to do a small legion contingent as a reinforcement for my World Eaters, but after a lot of time, i still can't decide between Alpha Legion and Sons of Horus, so i thought about mixing them.

Since i love the Alpha legion background, but i prefer the Sons of Horus tactics, and models, i was planning to do an army with lots of topknots, spikes and chains that reflects the Sons of horus, but instead of their symbol on the shoulder pad i will put an hydra (i will paint the shoulder pad scratched and weathered that shows the hydra underneath).

The problem with this thing is that i feel my legion will loose some of his "identity" in a sort of way, they will not be neither Alpha legion neither Sons of Horus.

Do you guys think is a good idea, or it's better not mixing legions like this?

It depends. Their playstyles are vastly different, as are their philosophies. However I could see them working together, supplementing each other nicely.
