Fortress world of Ostrakan

Hi,

I've made flamethower SWS squad for myself and I would like to make them some corresonding bases.
Sadly I've never done this before, so I'm asking for advice.

How to make burnt grass and effect of scorched ground?

Thank you.

You could just paint over the grass no? in a cone shape.

Blacks and dark browns.

i would test it out on a spare base.

otherwise it would be a TON of pain gluing a cone of scorched grass, then a mix of scorched and regular grass to blend it in then the regular grass around that so it doesn't look like the whole field is on fire.

you could also make the inner cone grass less and instead add a black dusty powder there with burnt grass being put around it.

I've personally no experience painting scorched ground, however I'd probably go about it the same way you would a standard base, I'd be inclined to use some of the generic grass tufts, the kind of thing that GW and many other retailers find, maybe some of the GW texture paints that give a cracked ground appearance (if you want to go that far). Then I'd use something like this smoke pigment from AK interactive http://ak-interactive.com/v2/product/smoke/ could give you the effect that you're looking for

I airbrushed black/verydark brown onto the burnt areas of ground and then drybrushed light grey over. works if there is plenty of texture. Mine was over a pine forest floor, I used thyme for pine needles.

also made trees look burnt with cracked earth GW paint and used the same airbrush black drybrush grey
