So local gaming store is having an CAD only tourney, at 1500 points. Here is the list I was thinking about fielding: +++ Necron 1500 cad (1491pts) +++ ++ Necrons: Codex (2015) (Combined Arms Detachment) ++ + HQ + Destroyer Lord [Mindshackle Scarabs, Phase Shifter, Resurrection Orb, The Veil of Darkness, Warscythe] ···· Independent Character, Preferred Enemy, Reanimation Protocols Orikan the Diviner ···· Chronoblade, Independent Character, Master Chronomancer, Reanimation Protocols, The Stars Are Right + Elites + Lychguard ···· 5x Lychguard [5x Hyperphase Sword & Dispersion Shield] ········ Reanimation Protocols + Troops + Warriors [Ghost Ark, 10x Necron Warrior] Warriors [10x Necron Warrior] Warriors [10x Necron Warrior] + Fast Attack + Canoptek Wraiths ···· Canoptek Wraith [Whip Coils] ········ Fearless, Rending, Swiftstrike, Very Bulky, Wraith Flight, Wraith Form ···· Canoptek Wraith [Whip Coils] ········ Fearless, Rending, Swiftstrike, Very Bulky, Wraith Flight, Wraith Form ···· Canoptek Wraith [Whip Coils] ········ Fearless, Rending, Swiftstrike, Very Bulky, Wraith Flight, Wraith Form Destroyers [3x Destroyer] ···· Preferred Enemy, Reanimation Protocols, Very Bulky Tomb Blades ···· Tomb Blade [Nebuloscope, Shield Vanes, Twin-linked Gauss Blaster] ········ Gauss, Reanimation Protocols ···· Tomb Blade [Nebuloscope, Shield Vanes, Twin-linked Gauss Blaster] ········ Gauss, Reanimation Protocols ···· Tomb Blade [Nebuloscope, Shield Vanes, Twin-linked Gauss Blaster] ········ Gauss, Reanimation Protocols ···· Tomb Blade [Particle Beamer, Shadowloom, Shield Vanes] ········ Reanimation Protocols ···· Tomb Blade [Particle Beamer, Shadowloom, Shield Vanes] ········ Reanimation Protocols + Heavy Support + Heavy Destroyers [3x Heavy Destroyer] Created with BattleScribe Since all troops will have Obsec, I wanted more than the minimum in case I come across an army that focuses on areas other than Troops. The Ghost Ark and warriors move to mid-field and become the anvil to my fast attacks hammer. I went against my general rule of mixing weapon types in a unit with the tomb blades because of limited force org charts for them, but the weapons aren't so dissimilar that I'll be wasting shots. Otherwise it's business as usual for them, be fast, harass objectives, and take out scouts/infiltrators. Destroyers and H-Destroyers are good SMEQ hunters, and the heavy destroyers are also insurance against heavy vehicles since alot of list at 1500 won't have good counters. Move shoot move is also a frustrating thing for opponents to deal with, and I can deep strike them if need be. Destroyer lord, Orikan the diviner, sword and board lychguard are my main melee hammer. They veil first turn, the D-Lord's resurrection orb and Orikans reroll 1's on saves (on top of the normal +1 to RP), they should be able to suck up just about anything a 1500 point cad can throw at them, at 18 wounds per casualty, which at majority toughness 5 makes for a very durable unit. They only have to survive one turn of shooting due to the veil, and after that the D-lord can break off to bring extra pain to weak melee units. The wraiths are mostly a distraction, they are fast, large targets, with a fearsome reputation, but are fairly mediocre without repair protocols to stiffen them up. They take about 6 wounds per casualty, which make them about twice as tough as a necron warrior, at over three times the cost. This is the part where I'm really debating and looking for feedback, do I just replace them with 7 bases of scarabs after shifting 2 points around? Same speed, better CC results (and can multi charge an army), 28 wounds vs 6 wounds (32 effective wounds vs 18) , but a high probability of getting squished (aka insta-killed). well that's my list what do you guys think?

I suggest dropping the ghost ark. At 1500 points there is still gonna be some good anti vehicle shenanigans and with it being your only vehicle it'll get focused way hard.
105 points can be a couple extra Lychguard and/or an extra wraith or two.

I would get rid of Resurrection Orb since you don't have enough bodies to justify it.
Mindshackle Scarabs and Phase Shifter are good but with a lychgard to buff at 3++ they seem more of a point sink then anything else. I would keep the M S if I have nothing else to field.
30 warriors without a decurion die pretty easily for their point depending who you face. I hope they'll be plenty of cover to block LoS for you. As such having only one Ghost Ark is pretty daring. If possible I would field 2 to be on the safe side.
What you said regading the wraiths are true but they might stil buy you the time you need for your warriors and ghost ark to reach midfield. If they really bug you a stalker might be a better choice to support your warriors then.

If the resurrection orb saves one lychguard, it's paid for itself, and it will no doubt save far more than 1 lychguard during the enemies shooting phase after the veil. The lychguard are there to keep orikan and the D-Lord alive, at 1 attack a piece they are fairly awful for offense, which is the reason why I tend to minimize them to just what I need to survive the turn before charging. If I could mix and match weapons that would be a different story, but since they all have to be sword and board, the only case I'd use more is if I was concerned I was going to run into a real deal death star and wanted more tarpit.
As for the ghost ark, I thought about it and you guys are right, it's going to catch a ton of anti-vehicle fire, and it's probably not enough by itself to keep three squads of warriors going. So in the below second list I switched out the wraiths and the ghost ark for a scarab farm setup with two spyders and a large unit of scarabs. Separately they are OK, but together I think they will be a significant threat. That's the goal of the list is everything is dangerous to the opponent, and the three least dangerous units have obsec, so the opponent gets to pick his poison.

Why the mixed weapons on the Tomblades? Seems to me that if you are buying 2 boxes of Tombblades, they work better in 2 groups of three.
I haven't found that Spyders are worth their points... matter of fact, Necron Heavy Support is incredibly lackluster... You'll often do better without (and not give up easy bonus points in Big Guns).

I have two boxes of tomb blades one with twin linked gauss, and the other with particle beamer, I would take both as different units, but with only three fast attack slots I had to combine them for this list. As for spyders, I'm hoping a scarab farm will be more than the sum of it's parts, since I'm very likely to be facing an undefeated Khorne daemon army, and scarabs are a good tar pit for almost all of their units (so long as I can steal the charge). Besides I have alot of tau in my meta and that many bases of CC coming at them for a second turn charge should get the pucker factor going.

So I won it, just barely. The spoils of war was a stalker and a unit of prats. Three match ups;
First fight vs. Ultra marines - My old rival/best gaming friend and his ultra marines, it was ITC scenario #5 big guns never tire. the last three times I ran into him in a tournament we drew, so there were plenty of jokes about calling it a draw and grabbing a beer. we exchanged blows for the first two rounds, I think I was getting the better of the exchanges, it was close though. My opportunity came he overcommitted, left his back field open allowing my HQ and tomb baldes to grab the objectives while my obsec contested the two in my deployment zone. Before he could recover, the match was declared over. Ended 7 - 1 in my favor.
What I could have done better: I feel like this was my best fight tactically, I bloodied his nose, pulled him in and closed the door on him. I did make some mistakes with my destroyers, I should have hit moe tac marines but instead wasted two turns trying to kill a melta bike. and I deployed a unit of warriors out in the boondocks and the only thing they did was get shot up by a contemptor dread.
Second match vs genestealer cult - Not much to say about this one ITC scenario #2, my orikan star grabbed the relic, and proceeded to kick the crap out of anything that dared come into CC, while taking fire from his entire army. I was Well on my way to tabling him when the game ended. I actually didn't know I could move the relic (major fail on my part) so he had a good chance at winning but necrons were just too much beef. One of my Tomb spyders got slay the warlord, I had a squad of warriors beat two of his squads, while taking three casualties, my heavy destroyers got away from a cult ambush, it was not a great fight for the cult.
What i could have done better: I was over confident, it would have only taken a few bad rolls to give him the relic, and I should have read the relic rules, because he almost booked it after grabbing it. Outside of that, I lost two units of warriors early on that I should have had in cover.
Third match vs harlequin - This started out going my way, by the end of turn three he had lost all but one of his bikes, and had only three troupes left (out of his starting six), i could tell he was on the verge of giving up, but made one last desperate attack, charging his three remaining troupes into my orikan star which i had placed near all of my other units so they could charge in and assist when the inevitable CC happened. It looked pretty in hand gibbing harelquins on 2's hitting on fours, and being more or less invincible. Then my dice went arctic cold, I failed three fear test in a row, couldn't reliably make saves or repair protocols, and finally loosing a round of combat and breaking (when I needed a nine or less). I kid you not it was the perfect storm of bad luck. During the CC I had finished off the rest of his army, but had stayed fairly close (big mistake) lost my destroyers spyders, and a unit of warriors to breaking (on a loss by 2). His saves were on fire during the two dark turns after my HQ died he failed 3 of his 5+ saves out of the twenty or so I threw at him. I was tempted to concede as All I had left was two units of warriors to his three troupes, but as it turns out that would be enough. I rapid fired to death two of the troupes, lost a unit of warriors in the process, and the game ended with my tabling him on turn 7 via snap shots as he charged my last unit of warriors with his last harlequin. By the skin of my teeth doesn't begin to describe how close a shave it was. But it got me a perfect score.
What i could have done better - I dun screwed up by hanging around the CC fight, he was so close he had easy charges to get back into CC. Outside of that, perhaps better sacrifices to RNGesus. cause he hated me that game. Also this is the reason why I never give up and fight to the last turn, even hot rolls will return to the mean eventually, and the fact it only takes one bad turn to swing a game goes both ways.
