Foreword
I've finally gotten around to making my first list for Imperial Guard. I'm a Space Marine player at the moment but I want to invest in a new army, because to be honest as much as I love SM they just get dull after a while. I wanted both a challenge and a faction in the Imperium of Man so i think IG fits the bill quite nicely. Plus I REALLY love the artistic style (especially their armored vehicles and in particular the Leman Russ) and lore of all the important regiments; it really illustrates the Grim Dark of 40k.

Army Tactics
To be honest I have no idea exactly how I'm going to use this army because I could face any other army. My close friends play Orks , Nids, Necrons, and Tau but I play at my local shop sometimes and I could fight anything there, but from what I've seen its mainly Tau, Eldar, Dark Eldar so... I've got to be prepared for literally anything (although I don't think i have much hope against things like Eldar ). My over all strategy would be to use the Leman Russes to create a space that would allow my troops to advance into objectives with more protection and when they get there I would bring up the Pask Punisher and go for the kills I Have no idea what weapons to put on my tanks to be honest because the army is so multi purpose. My valkery/vets will be used to melta pop anything I REALLY need off the board but I don't know if this is actually necessary to even justify the point cost. In conclusion it would be nice if anyone wanted to tweek my list to make it viable in friendly games, also I really want to make more use of Lemans so if anyone thinks it's a good idea to add more I'll definitely humor it.
List:

HQ
Tank Commander (405)
-Executioner W-Heavy Flamer sponsons and Heavy bolter Hull
-Command Punisher W- Pask, Lascannon hull, Multi Melta Sponsons

Troops (390)

Vets in Chimera W- 2xMeltas, 1 Flamer (150)
Vets in Chimera W- 3xMeltas (90)

Fast Attack
Valkyrie Squadron W- Rocket Pods (135)

Heavy Support
Wyvern (65)

Maybe consider switching the Pask's sponson heavy bolter with Multimelta? That makes him more consistent with the hull Lascannon.

The list is generally good for a casual to moderate comepetitive game, as it covers both anti tank and anti infantry quite well. But the thing it lacks is anti MC and fast moving assault units formed by high toughness multi wound models like Nurgle Spawns, Plague Drones, TWC, etc.

And maybe a typo, the 3rd Veteran is not having a Chimera right? That makes sense for your introduction of Valkyrie and their 90pts.

The Multi Melta Pask Is actually a good idea in my opinion, and I'll probably change that. I might put flamers on the battle tank for when it gets close with the enemy and those meltas and lascannon on Pask so he has a weapon to use while the battle tank is blowing things up.

yes the third vet squad IS supposed to be put into the valkyrie.

What would you suggest for those high wound/toughness models? What types of weapons are effective toward them?

At 1000 points Pask & your meltavets should be sufficient for tackling high wound/high toughness targets such as monstrous creatures.

At higher points values I have found plasmavets, lascannon-plasma infantry platoons, executioners, & plasma executioners to be good at taking out monstrous creatures. Oh, and ratlings, my often lackluster "Widowmakers" squad of ratlings is pretty good at injuring MCs.

Personally I would make pasks squadron buddy an exterminator as thy put out some nice strength 7 shots re-rolling 1s to wound and can fire sponson weapons at full ballistic skill due to not being ordnance unlike the battle tank

Yes, take Ordnance weapons OR sponsons. There are some good Heavy turrets available for the LRBT in place of the Battle Cannon. Or, drop the HBs.

That solo Wyvern is a juicy target, and keeping a unit back to guard it might be needed if it ends up blowing up by turn 2.

If it was me, I'd have a Melta vet squad, and a flamer squad with one of the specialisations (Grenadier or such).
Or, take a Melta-vet squad, and a small platoon to get a flamer special-weapon squad. That gives you a pair of infantry squads and a platoon command squad to guard the arty.
Orders from the PCS can be used on the Vets, if in order range.

I like that Idea because I would be able to deal with MEQ and still have some range to my guns plus I'll be able to shoot my bolters and flamers given the opportunity. I've updated the tanks in the list with this idea in mind.

That is definitely a problem that needs to be addressed, the platoon is certainly a way to fix that but what exactly would I sacrifice to put them in? Would it be best to replace my Valkyrie W/Vets or one of the Chimera vets? And how would i go about gearing them?
