So, I'm just about to buy FW Horus miniature and I wanted to paint him with his original pre-heresy color palette. I know that, starting the Heresy, he changes his armor to a black one made in Mars (Source: Mechanicum, by G. McNeill, Galaxy in flames by B. Counter) but I can't remember the original tone scheme before that. A friend told me that the original armor was made with obsidian and marble covering the ceramite protection, but I'd like to be sure before start painting it so... any advice?

He is described as having multiple sets, one in sea green, one grey, and I seem to recall a golden set as well (could be wrong on that one). No reason why you can't go with the marbled effect, but it wouldn't be 'wrong' if you didn't. If you are really particular about accuracy to the story though, bare in mind that he got the talon with the black armour, and he wouldn't have worn Luna Wolves livery colours after the change to Sons of Horus. Wouldn't stop me from painting it how I wanted, but might for some.

Thanks for both comments. It's true that he starts wearing the talon when he changes to the back armor and, judging for the half broken eagle head, it could be maybe cooler to think in an Heresy ambient instead of the pre-heresy I've initially thought. I can use Ullanor's wolf colors as a reference too, so I can get as close as possible to the original description. Thanks both a lot!
