Hey guys,

I'm trying to build an interesting and competitive ITC list. Lemme know what you think.

Strategy for the core of my army (purge detachment, 1678 points) is for the autocannon squads to bubble wrap the artillery in a giant mass in my deployment zone (you can't deepstrike if there's nowhere to deepstrike). The enforcers join the flamer infantry squads which hide behind the zombies. Zombies either absorb a charge or act as a tarpit and then flamer squad charges in to clean up the mess (77 str 3 attacks + 6 str 4 AP2 attacks from ~100 points of models is gross). If the combat is going to be lost I throw down some templates (which leave dangerous terrain for extra trolling) into it because renegade lives are expendable. Melta squads bring up the rear and add some extra shooting/bodies.

The question is: what do I add?

As this army is ITC focused, malestrom objectives are important. I know what I'm seriously lacking is a way to get to backfield objectives.

What I've been considering is either a KdK gorepack or some dark eldar. Currently I'm more swayed towards a mini DE CAD of two kabalite squads in raiders (one with either an archon or haemonculus) arriving via deepstrike at some point near a lonely backfield objective and cleansing it (liquifier gun?). The added bonus is since this is my CAD these troops are obsec and could potentially steal an objective out from say a squad of nurglings/marker drones/scouts. With some lances/blasters so they can also provide an antitank threat. The point of these units is not to go toe to toe with my opponents big stuff/combat specialists but instead to make mincemeat of the "tax units" or weaker guys left behind on objectives.

Below is my core force, let me know what you think I should add/remove. Stick to the DE idea, or maybe something different all together.

Well your rapier batteries should be 3 guns, not 2. And you don't need to waste points on extra crew for your Field batteries and Ordnance batteries (ordnance doesn't have an "i" in it).

Also infantry platoon aren't competitive without abusing Unending Host. They don't deal good damage and they don't hold down units like Zombies can. Like your counter charge unit will fail because the units that will be making it to your back lines are deathstars like Wolfstar or Necron Wraiths which are too durable for a bunch of GEQ S3 attacks. Especially since you double the price of the unit with a single enforcer thus defeating the point of Renegades which is that they are CHEAP. Don't was points on superfluous stuff like extra crew, enforcers or platoons.

Drop that crap, move your Zombies into a CAD so that they are also ObSec (you don't need ANY troops for The Purge), take more Zombies (they are absurdly cheap, you should have like 90-120 of them) and get a Void Shield Generator. From there your ally should be an army that covers what Renegades lack which is board control. Your artillery and zombies will hold your backline like and anchor but you have grab forward objectives to actually win the game which your imobile renegades can't do. Dark Eldar are bad at this because they are extremely flimsy and good opponents won't just leave an objective open for you to take for free (that would be dumb). Your better options are Daemons for summoning or KDK for the same reason. You don't need more damage your Renegades all ready have that covered.

I'm back, thought about what you said and realized, man, (giant) chaos spawn are pretty good, and also pretty cheap... here's my new list idea (still no unending host cause I really like artillery tyrants). Also I'm 100 points over so I need to chop something out, probably the infantry platoon, but I like the extra bodies to bubble wrap my artillery that can shoot.

--UPDATED AND EDITED LIST-- (now with more spawn and obsec zombies, I realized ordnance tyrants shoot into combat rule doesn't applies to anyone friendly so I shuffled things around a bit)
