Hello Dakka, this is not so much a 'proposed rule' as a set of rules you are completely free to play with if you'd like. I have a friend with a sizable catachan collection, and for a long time he's been frustrated with the lack of rules to properly represent them. When the Genestealer Cult rules were released, I floated the idea that he could use those rules to represent his jungle fighters, and we realized it was possible to create a whole decurion detachment of them, thanks to Allies of Convenience rules between AM and GSC.

Jungle Fighter Ambush - (Cult Insurrection detachment)
Spoiler:
For those that do not know, all non-vehicle GSC units have access to Cult Ambush, which lets them enter reserves or deploy if they have Infiltrate by rolling on a random table which *mostly* is a much improved version of the Infiltrate rule. Any models taken in a Cult Insurrection gain infiltrate if they are non-vehicles, so all the counts-as GSC units here may deploy via super infiltrate and can also disappear into Ongoing Reserves and regain D6 casualties lost in the battle. Additionally, the catachan player gains +1 to all reserve rolls and his opponent suffers -1, cumulative with any other reserve modifiers he may gain.

Command (0-3):

1 Catachan Lieutenant (Primus)
Spoiler:
The Genestealer Primus carries a poisoned 2+ pistol, a poisoned 4+ rending weapon, and a power sword. Units with Rending are represented in the Catachan list by their skill with Catachan combat knives, approaching unseen to slit throats and find cracks in any armor. The Catachan Lieutenant leads by example, inspiring his men to fight harder, granting hatred to any unit within 12".

1 Grizzled Sergeant (Acolyte Iconward)
Spoiler:
Though he disdains the 'fancified' power sword wielded by the lieutenant and prefers combat with just his knife, the Grizzled Sergeant is still a fearsome combatant. Even more valuable is his ability to inspire the men around him to tough it out and rub some dirt in it, as nobody wants to buy it in front of the donkey-cave drill sergeant who kicked them into shape in boot camp. As such the sergeant grants all units within 12" 6+ FNP.

Core (1-6):

Mounted Ambush Force (neophyte cavalcade)
Spoiler:
Though the wily jungle fighters set many kinds of traps, they almost never fail to include a set of jaws. A sentinel scouting team leads the enemy into the kill zone, and mounted jungle fighters and heavy armor flank around the enemy and close for the kill.

Auxiliary (1+):

Fast Assault Corps (Deliverance Broodsurge)
Spoiler:
Catachan greenhorns are invarably among the least cautious and most gung-ho of the jungle fighters. As valuable lasguns and combat vehicles are expensive to pry from the bellies of the native fauna, most of the time a recruit will need to earn the right to their standard imperial equipment by surviving an engagement or two. The greenhorns revel in the thrill of crashing through the jungle in the simple flatbed trucks nicknamed 'slaughterwagons' by veterans. While the tendencies of the new recruits to fling themselves off the trucks while they're traveling full-speed does inflate the already high casualty rate, it has proven pivotal to the success of an ambush on many occasions.

Jungle Fighter Platoon (Doting Throng, no Magus)
Spoiler:
Fighting against the soldiers of Catachan is like trying to box one's own shadow. As the enemy force is lured into the kill zone, squads of combat hardened jungle fighters burst from concealed positions to open fire with lasgun and heavy bolter. More independently minded than other guard regiments, Catachans rarely operate under a set of centralized commands, but years of fighting the native fauna of their homeworld have honed their instincts to a razor sharp edge.

Armor Support (Brood Brothers)

Tank Hunter Specialists (Demolition Claw)
Spoiler:
The Catachans are the undisputed masters of the Demo Charge amongst the soldiers of the imperial guard. The elite commando units tasked with deploying these explosives to the vehicles of the enemy are legendary even amongst the ranks of the jungle fighters. They most frequently operate in "sweep and clear" tank hunter teams, mounted atop field-modified Hellhound tanks designed to carve through dense terrain.

Close Air Support (Emperor’s Spear formation, may add optional Astra Militarum CAD of 2x Vet squads 1x Command Squad which must start aboard the flyers)
Spoiler:
Catachan air cavalry are frequently deployed in response to an unexpectedly large enemy force appearing in an ambush kill zone, or employed by design as part of the jaws of the trap. Most frequently the roar of valkyrie engines heralds not just the withering firepower of the craft, but the arrival of numerous squads of Catachan Aircav Specialists who leap directly from the flyers into the fray as a co-ordinated platoon unit.

Mission Specialists (Emperors Blade formation)
Spoiler:
When an objective outside the simple destruction of the enemy force is paramount, Catachan top brass is wise to send in teams of veterans and officers to achieve it. Whether cutting enemy communications or making off with valuable intel, these fire teams operate with single minded coordination independent of the chaos of the ambush.

Sentinel Hunting Party (Emperors Talon formation)
Spoiler:
Catachan sentinel pilots are widely regarded as amonst the most aggressive in the imperium. Reports that as training teams of these 'hunting dogs' track and bring down some of the most collossal and dangerous of Catachan's native creatures are vehemently denied by Catachan top brass, but sentinels in service will often have a suspicious number of spraypainted kill-markings in the shape of some of Catachans' infamous fauna. When called in to assist an ambush, large platoons of sentinels converge on a single chosen target, bringing down heavy tanks and large monsters with many coordinated blasts of heavy firepower.

Scorched Earth Strikeforce (Emperors Wrath Battery)
Spoiler:
The Catachans rarely use the typical heavy artillery bombardments of other guard regiments, thanks to the rough terrain they generally operate in. Instead, Catachan artillery is employed in carefully guided and coordinated specialist teams. Often working in concert with mission specialists or aircav teams, Catachan artillery batteries call down concentrated, accurate strikes that leave the enemy nowhere to hide.

"Got you, Yugi! Your Rubric Marines can't fall back because I have declared the tertiary kaptaris ka'tah stance two, after the secondary dacatarai ka'tah last turn!"

"So you think, Kaiba! I declared my Thousand Sons the cult of Duplicity, which means all my psykers have access to the Sorcerous Facade power! Furthermore I will spend 8 Cabal Points to invoke Cabbalistic Focus, causing the rubrics to appear behind your custodes! The Vengeance for the Wronged and Sorcerous Fullisade stratagems along with the Malefic Maelstrom infernal pact evoked earlier in the command phase allows me to double their firepower, letting me wound on 2s and 3s!"

"you think it is you who has gotten me, yugi, but it is I who have gotten you! I declare the ever-vigilant stratagem to attack your rubrics with my custodes' ranged weapons, which with the new codex are now DAMAGE 2!!"

"...which leads you straight into my trap, Kaiba, you see I now declare the stratagem Implacable Automata, reducing all damage from your attacks by 1 and triggering my All is Dust special rule!"

Well if you wanted to break the AM formations outside of the cult decurion keeping them seperate as they are in the game then yeah this works perfectly. I have been doing the same with my Orks to a Blood Axe theme.

As much as I like my Orders, this is a pretty clever idea. I may just try this, it's pretty similar to the old Catachan mini codex.

It's funny other people had this same idea. When I saw the Genestealer Cult Codex, my first thought was: Hey that's the old Catachan Rules! I can play them that way again! My second thought was: Hey I have rules for my Red Skull Kommandoz now!

I didn't even think about making a Genestealer Cult Army.
