Thinking of doing some Black Legion Raptors for my Chaos Shattered Warband, what colours would you recommend for the gold and edge highlighting? Is Skavenblight Dinge too dark, or Celestra Grey too bright/thick? Could I mix the two effectively? Do I need to go over the Chaos Black primer with another coat of black? Is there any point to washing black with Nuln Oil?

Any advice appreciated!

Don't need to paint to paint black over black primer. No need to nuln oil either.

I have to disagree with that. Should always paint over black primer with a black paint as they have very different finishes. If you dont paint over the primer and you have to repair a mistake or overspill later, you'll be left with 2 different black finishes on the same model, which can start to look a mess.

Found out the hard way by painting a lot of black necrons.

The way I ended up doing it was going over the details in gold, then doing a clean up coat of black for where I'd messed up, and painting a lot of the most prominent black areas (pauldrons and jump pack) at the same time. Most of the bits that are still in 'primer black' are pretty hard to see.
