Subject: What dessert gaming mats are out there ?

I am looking for a dessert or wasteland gaming mat that can be used for both fantasy / warmaster and 40k. So preferably no roads, craters or things that would give away scale such as pre printed ruins etc does anyone know what options I have ?

The teacher in me wants to say go with a candyland board. But I know what you meant, gamemat.eu is pretty good. I also made a Desert type map before just paint some hard foam planks brown/yellow and glue sand on it, you can also use real rocks to help with terrain.

The only issue you'll find with most gaming mats is that they're aimed at 20-28mm minis --- they may not look great with warmaster stuff.
I like this one from GameMatz (don't have one so I can't comment on quality)

I have some nice mats from Deep Cut studios but they don't do much of a basic desert one.

I would go with the F.A.T mat they are a little spendy but are very high quality.

Deep cut studio makes the best mats I've ever seen.

I like their style. But I do not like there to be any obvious features on it such as that road and those hills. Those things will look strange when you shift to warmaster / epic scale and it sort of removes flexibility for regular games ( all battles are going to be fought over that road ). Automatically Appended Next Post: Yeah I have seen some of their designs online and some of them look quite decent. Have you seen the mouse mat versions or the PVC ones ?

I own a snowy /icy mouse pad material one. Love it.

There are no roads on this mat. That is sand built up along a ridge line.

Those look great especially for 40k games but their mars / moon theme seems a little off for warmaster games

Deepcut every time for me. I have two of their mats and they are great. I only have PVC mats so can't really comment on the mouse mat ones.
Here is their desert mat.
